Capuozzo de retour, Kinghorn forfait pour la demie

Ange Capuozzo, trois-quarts italien du Stade Toulousain, a repris l’entraînement plus vite que prévu après sa blessure, mais l’arrière écossais Blair Kinghorn est forfait pour la demi-finale de Champions Cup à Bordeaux-Bègles, dimanche 4 mai.

De retour sans gêne apparente, Capuozzo postule à la surprise générale pour une place dans le groupe qui tentera d’aller chercher une place en finale de la Champions Cup pour y défendre son titre.

Victime d’une entorse de la cheville droite, le joueur de 25 ans était sorti sur une civière lors de la victoire contre les Anglais de Sale en huitièmes de finale de Champions Cup. Son retour était initialement espéré mi-mai.

En cas de retour à la compétition, Capuozzo pourrait reprendre sa place à l’aile et également couvrir le poste de demi de mêlée en cas de pépin pour le titulaire Paul Graou, un poste qui apparaît comme une vulnérabilité pour le Stade Toulousain.

L’international écossais (28 ans, 59 sélections) s’est blessé lors d’un duel aérien avec le Castrais Geoffrey Palis dès la 7e minute de jeu de la victoire contre le CO en Top 14.

L’absence de Kinghorn, nommé parmi les meilleurs joueurs du dernier Tournoi des Six Nations, est d’au moins trois semaines, ce qui pourrait également remettre en cause sa participation à une éventuelle finale de Champions Cup le 24 mai.

Les Toulousains, premiers du Top 14, s’apprêtent à disputer leur septième demi-finale de Champions Cup consécutive dimanche contre l’Union Bordeaux-Bègles (16h00). Ils ont remporté six fois cette compétition, un record.
