Le rugby néo-zélandais a subi un revers dans son ambition de délocaliser le dernier des trois tests des All Blacks face à la France, prévu l’an prochain, sur la côte ouest des États-Unis.

Initialement, NZ Rugby envisageait de reproduire l’expérience réussie de San Diego, où les All Blacks avaient affronté les Fidji en début d’année. Cependant, la Fédération française a rejeté cette proposition, confirmant que la rencontre se tiendra bien en Nouvelle-Zélande.

« Nous avons examiné l’idée d’organiser un test aux États-Unis, mais ce match aura lieu chez nous », a déclaré Mark Robinson, directeur général de NZ Rugby, dans un communiqué jeudi.

Le calendrier complet des tests à domicile des All Blacks sera dévoilé la semaine prochaine, a ajouté Robinson.

Cette décision marque un revers pour la stratégie de NZ Rugby, qui cherche à organiser davantage de matchs en Amérique du Nord dans le cadre de la préparation pour la Coupe du Monde de Rugby 2031. Bien que les All Blacks soient déjà programmés pour affronter l’Irlande à Chicago lors de leur tournée de fin de saison 2024, NZ Rugby espérait étendre sa présence aux États-Unis, stimulée par l’attrait croissant de cette région.

L’organisation néo-zélandaise avait en effet été encouragée par l’engouement suscité par le test contre les Fidji à San Diego en juillet, avec une affluence impressionnante et des ventes de produits dérivés élevées. Toutefois, le refus des Français de jouer aux États-Unis pour ce test a mis un frein à ces ambitions.

Du côté français, les Bleus prévoient de faire tourner leur effectif pour cette tournée en Nouvelle-Zélande, en particulier les joueurs impliqués dans la finale du Top 14. Cependant, grâce à la profondeur de son effectif, la France pourra aligner une équipe compétitive. D’ailleurs, lors de la tournée en Argentine en juillet dernier, malgré l’absence de plusieurs stars, les Français ont réussi à décrocher un match nul lors des deux rencontres, prouvant ainsi leur solidité.

Surprised that Venner is included, a bit lightweight in my opinion, fortunate to play in a top team. I would prefer to see future stars such as Millie David or Bonner or Laffin instead and given a chance. Barring injury, I cannot see anyone seriously being selected for a vital match on the wing before Dow, Breech or MacDonald. Then at 15 there is Kildunne with Dow or Rowland in case of injury. Any combination of these 5 constitute the best back 3 in the world.

After many many years of being mediocre, they incredibly got themselves to a No 1 world ranking, which they miraculously held on to for around 14 months. However, despite reaching this incredible feat, they've always underperformed at World Cups, never ever making it past the quarter finals. This form, which could only be described as ‘choking’, also carried through to the 6 nations. Last year they were tipped to win a grand slam, but were beaten by England, so although they won last years 6 nations, they effectively choked again by not winning the grand slam. This year they were tipped by many, along with their mostly delusional media & some fans, to again grand slam the 6 nations, & in the process win a 3rd previously never done before consecutive 6 nations as well. However, they choked once again & not only did they not win the 6 nations or indeed the grand slam, they ended up 3rd on the 6 nations table. It is also a mystery how they got away with nefarious tactics, among other things, such as illegal & dangerous tactics at rucks for years, & also using multiple lazy runners etc, both of which incredibly hardly ever got pinged by referees? Irish rugby will most likely never again reach the highs it has over the last several years. It's over! 🙏

I’ll believe it, when i see it against the top 4 sides or even Scotland or Argentina. We have been here before, beating Italy at home and this wales side by overpowering them isn’t a realistic barometer of were they are, given their performances pre-six nations and in the first three games.

You can understand that given the dishonest public comments by Galthie re Ringrose and Ntamack, that any citing commission are even less likely to react to another public attempt at pressure. These processes must run without favour to individual countries. Galthie is again demanding special treatment for France. You will note that a a direct result of Galthies public attacks both Beirne and Porter ave received threats from French supporters?

Galthies behaviour did gain one result: Carley seemed to be afraid to give a straight red for the off the ball Mauvaka head butt on Saturday.

I am not a betting man but I can see France eliminated from RWC 2027 on a controversial decision. Everyone will smile and think; “The boy who cried wolf”.

Just to clarify the ONLY issue otehrwise in refereeing or citing issue was inexplicably ‘forgetting’ Thomas’ broken nose which allowed Ntamack to avoid a full 6 nations ban.

I am not into this wild swinging of outlooks from match to match. In Lions teams terms, Ireland and Scotland were better in those matches than England. England relied on luck to beat Scotland. Ireland have the triple crown.

Ireland were playing for the Grand Slam and Championships and both were de facto gone last week, so I wouldn’t look too deeply into that Italy performance.

Wales were a little tired and English physicality broke them. England, France and indeed Ireland and Scotland can put up big scores when a match is done with time to play.

They don’t. Scotland have no luck and get the worst end of the stick on almost all occasions: from refereeing decisions to world cup draws and scheduling. This is not a coincidence in my opinion.

People give out about Townsends success. But he has done brilliantly given the amount of headwinds blowing.

I agree. I really think the wingers are just so plentiful at the moment. Midfield is the critical selection in the mix. I really believe Braydon Ennor at 13 for the AB’s must be considered. Saturday showed after a huge lay off due to rehab, that he has the vision and a real speed factor.His display for the Crusaders was special. I think we need to call out the red card non-decision here and acknowledge the damage that France, through Galthie, have done to confidence in the officaiting and citing process.

It started when Garry Ringrose had club matches included in his ban following similar precedents for (Atonio, Haouas, Danty) who were all carded/cited in match just before fallow week and club matches counted. Ntamacks citing was in week 1 and harder to demonstrate availability for club match with another International match between. Preceednt ~(O’Mahony 2021) was followed. Reading the written decision for Ntamack shows that Galthie understood this perfectly. Yet after the Ringrose ban included club matches, Galthie publicly goes berserk screaming ‘Injustice (against France”. Again, he knows the precedents for Ringrose are all French and indeed the only person preceding Ntamack to have club matches count in that situation was France’s Willemse.

The media swallowed this up wholesale and the story started circulating and being added to without a single journalist/pundit (except rush Mirror) actually reading the Ntamack decision. Sneaky Ireland had better briefs than honest naive France was one random addition by a pundit which becamse accpeted fact without checking etc and added to the circulation.

Angered by losing his star player Galthie again lashes out. He knows know he can de facto attack individual players, the media won’t intervene and as long as he doesnt directly attack an individual official he will stay out of trouble.

So he attacks players who then het threatened by some lunatic French supporters online. Ireland are ‘Butchers’ apparently. The passive head contact earning Nash a yellow now becomes a double head hit on Barrassi, requiring a double red.

France who have more dangerous tackle citings under Galthie than all other six nations combined. They get more favourable outcomes than all other teams. poor France are now the victims of great injustice. It is farce.

But it paid off.

Mauvaka struck the Scottish Scrum half with a diving head butt in Sundays match. Its a clear red. Scotlands back line attack looked superiors to France’s and Scotland were there or there abouts.

What I can only assume is the chilling affect on Galthie’s public attacks Carley send it to the bunker. A deliberate head butt is a clear red on more than one count. There is no doubt, bo grey area.

If thats a red card do France win the match? I would say that Scotland are likely winners, which would have meant England winning the title.

Spilled milk now, but World Rugby, the citing commisioners and officials cannot allow big Unions to publicly intimidate the officiating process and attack individual players from other teams.

Well lets hope so. England have developed a very strong kicking game and I'm all for them going to it on a regular basis to get into the right areas of the field but they need to find the right balance. They've been far too predictable and far too low risk. Tindall recently summed up my thoughts on this... “rugby is a pressure game, it's about building phases”. Against Scotland they almost never went over 2 phases, it was super weird. None of the top 4 sides are playing in this manner, I don't see where the precedent is for this staccato style of play. We've got an exceptional group of loose forwards developing, let's make use of that quick ball! Hopefully the Welsh game is a turning point and the coaches will trust the players to take a few more risks. It's not that I have anything against kicking in test matches, it's absolutely essential that we kick well but we do that already, it's the rest of the attack which has been missing. This relentless kicking isn't the way the best sides win test matches these days. Kick well, kick lots but we need to be setup to take advantage of quick ball and defensive misalignments around the halfway line and we need to build pressure by going multiphase in the 22 instead of grubber kicking it or crossfielding with such high regularity.

Agreed, seen far too many false dawns as an England fan and here are still far too many question marks over Borthwick and his coaching team. The Scotland and Ireland performances were still poor, even if we managed to stay on the right side of the scoreboard on one of them. France game we were fortunate but we at least played well

You can’t screech publicly about player welfare as Galthie has done and then remain completely silent for a head butt off the ball. This is easily the worst most cowardy decision a ref has made in this 6N. If it is clearly a red WR must instruct referees that THEY must make that decsision.

I believe Galthies public threats and misinformation about club suspensions has created a chilling effect for officials. France and supporters generally are honest. Unfortunately this mini Trump at the helm is creating a situation where they wont be taken seriosuly inthe future in these cases. ‘The boy who cried wolf’ Galthie.
