Le 2e ligne international Posolo Tuilagi fait en effet partie du groupe de 31 joueurs annoncé par le club catalan ce jeudi. La dernière sensation de la famille Tuilagi s’était gravement blessé face à l’ASM lors de la 4e journée du Top 14.

Victime d’une double fracture tibia-péroné le 28 septembre 2024, le jeune joueur (20 ans) a subi une opération chirurgicale et suit depuis une longue rééducation dont il aperçoit enfin le bout du tunnel.

Il y a deux semaines, l’optimisme n’était pourtant pas de mise, à en croire le manager Franck Azéma. « Pour l’instant, elles sont nulles », déclarait-il sur les ondes d’Ici Roussillon quant aux chances de voir Tuilagi sur le terrain contre le Racing. « Il reprend l’entraînement collectif, mais on verra s’il y a de l’évolution durant les 15 prochains jours. »

Il faut croire que le retour à l’entraînement s’est bien passé, même si l’annonce des 23 joueurs qui affronteront le Racing sera faite vendredi en fin de journée.

Fils de la légende samoane Henry Tuilagi, Posolo a déjà porté le maillot de l’équipe de France à cinq reprises. Il a notamment participé au Tournoi des Six Nations 2024 et à la tournée d’été en Amérique du Sud l’an dernier.

L’USAP, 13e du Top 14 à six journées de la fin de saison, ne compte que deux points d’avance sur Vannes, dernier et donc relégable.
