Etzebeth was the only person who said 'we will see you in the final if Ireland are good enough'. He deliberately twisted what a few Irish players said to him in good will into arrogance. DeAllende was also sent out to claim that Irish media were disrespectful to SA after a comprehensive win in Dublin years before. I remembered that match and although Ireland were delighted I dont recall anything but respect from Ireland. I looked again at articles from the time and they were more focused on Ireland's progress while noting it wasn't a vintage SA team. DeAllende's story was literally a complete fabrication. There is no way Rassie would not be aware of those articles attacking Ireland before they went out. Add to that his videos shown at the stadia before the games trying to portray Irish disrespect to SA. Rassie himself could have told Etzebeth what 'see you in the final' meant from an Irish player (he probably did).

All one sided and all very distasteful from a man who spent time in Ireland.

He didn't pay for it in match one after Ireland failed to put SA away, after SA punched themselves out at 13-8 after 50. They paid for it in the second match though.

Rassie is not as clever as he thinks and he didn't understand the Irish as well as he thought. He went too far. I doubt DeAllende will thank him for burning his bridges and sh1t talking Ireland.

Genuinely interested to see how Rasssie does without Nienaber and Jones. I've seen plenty to be concerned about.

The second half was good but I was so disappointed with the first 20. Like you have pointed out previously our defence is just giving away so much. Surely Joe and Laurie are trying to address this? Some basic rugby errors too which hurt us. At the same time our backrow seems world class. And if NZ don't drop the last pass we could be down 45 nil this week!

Those are two different occasions and arguments. The arrogant comment was made in regard to Irish players after the pool game saying "see you in the finals" which to them (not the nation) seemed cocky.

Your prior comment talks about June and July tests and about rankings. No players on either side has engaged in the rankings debate or "we're number 1" shenanigans.

It's what's called the Baader-meinhof phenomenon, just because BS and Rugby pass say something is happening doesn't mean it's truly prevalent

The ABs scrum is rightly considered to be one of the best in the world. It's a tribute to the coaching of Cron ( a NZer Walter ) that the Wallabies matched it. I would score the scrum battle a draw. I don't think many pundits would have predicted that.
