Asafo Auma smashes Tevita Taufui

New Wellington hooker Asafo Aumua has been lighting up highlight reels with ball in hand so far in the Mitre 10 Cup, but he showed he’s no slouch when it comes to tackling either.

It was part of an impressive 34-10 win for the Lions over Waikato in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon, which lifted them to a commanding lead in the Championship division.

Meanwhile, the NZ under-20’s powerhouse Aumua has been rumoured to be a shoe-in for the All Blacks end-of-year tour, and eventual back-up for fellow Wellingtonian Dane Coles.

I would suggest that seeing as Northampton just beat, effectively, the Irish national team (plus Snyman and Barrett) in Dublin without their first choice back three, you might be underestimating the English Prem a tad.

No-one is suggesting that 2 or 3 of the NZ franchises aren’t excellent teams. What is being suggested is that Donald’s claim that Barrett wont be getting any top class rugby because he’s not in the SRP is laughable.

There are some poor sides in the SRP as their are in all leagues.

But, Donald said a great deal more than that. He suggested Barrett would deteriorate because he wouldn’t be getting any high class rugby compared to staying in SRP, and that the top NH teams would struggle in SRP.

Coaching failings were not starting the best team. Not stress testing the defense properly when it was not being tested by other teams.

The attacks on Cullen as arrogant from some here are preposterous. Leinsters record of wins show they take every match very seriously. But for a team to win the double, whether that’s Leinster, Toulouse or whomever you need to plan a squad capable of doing that and you need to plan a season with winning trophies in mind. Every title competitor in elite professional rugby does this. Anyone who says otherwise is either clueless or the type of non-supporter who thinks rugby is about flinging dirt against the reputation of competitors. They should take their egos to another activity in my opinion. They should try and be more honest and humble.

They weren’t ‘relying on’ Barrett. It’s just being used as a stick to beat Cullen with. Barrett was anonymous when he came on. Not his fault, but there’s nothing to suggest the result would definitely have been different if he’d started.

You’re talking about starting Ringrose and Henshaw. Centres that got Ireland to number 1 in the world, not a couple of mugs.

Ireland made no comment about any RWC final. Etzebeth claimed they did with no evidence, an allegation he has completely withdrawn.

Cullen is being asked about the suitability of him continuing in his role and the planning for the Champions Cup. Of course he is going to say that short, medium and long term planning was good. Toulouse and all the contenders plan to make and win finals. NZ and SA and other top international teams plan to win tournaments including the world cup. You know absolutely zero about top level elite sport if you believe otherwise. Leinster have won almost every match this year and convincingly which shows that they take each match as it comes.

Can you stop twisting words in you guys endless quest to find any scrap to prove Ireland arrogant. If youre a Kiwi or Saffer youll find plenty of arrogance closer to home.

Every challenging team from Leinster to Toulouse in the CC and from SA to NZ re World Cups plan to make a final and win. That’s what they are there for.

Cullen is being questioned about his job. Of course he is going to say his planning was adequate to carry out the double goals of URC and CC wins.

Sam Prendergast is the main culprit for this loss in my opinion. On the field he saunters about like a headless chicken, is as slow as a week in the jail when he even attempts to run.
