Australian Super Rugby Club Grades - Week Seven
This week saw the first Trans-Tasman matchup of the season and the return of an Aussie favourite to
the pitch. Here are the ratings for the 3 Australian teams for this week in Super Rugby.
Rebels – E
This could have been so different. After conceding the first try, the Rebels reeled off 19 straight points to lead 19-8 after 30 minutes. But just like their week five clash against the Waratahs, they fell apart.
They didn’t score another point from the 30th minute and conceded a further 6 tries thanks to some very suspect
defence. They have looked good when teams have allowed them to get on top of them but in two games that the pressure came on they have crumbled.
Waratahs – B
It certainly wasn’t a perfect performance but the men from Sydney picked up a rare win in Canberra.
The most important thing to come out of this match though is the injury to Israel Folau who was forced off in the fourth minute with a hamstring problem. Bernard Foley was wayward with the boot missing a couple of kicks you would expect him to get but they held on to pick up their third win of the season and put pressure on at the top of the Australian conference.
Brumbies – D
The return of the prodigal son, David Pocock wasn’t enough to propel the Brumbies to a much needed win. Once again, their lack of creativity in the backline is a concern. With defences being so strong now, do the Brumbies have enough guile and class to break teams down on a consistent basis. On this showing, no they don’t.
