Bayonne, vainqueur de Lyon, plane vers les phases finales

L’Aviron Bayonnais a écarté le LOU, concurrent direct dans la course à la qualification pour les phases finales du Top 14 (28-14), et conforte sa 4e place.

La route est encore longue, mais le tracé de Bayonne vers les phases finale de Top 14, ce qui serait une première, se dégage de plus en plus. À Jean-Dauger, les Bayonnais, quatrièmes au classement, ont battu Lyon, cinquième au coup d’envoi, avec le bonus offensif (28-14).

Pas menés une seule seconde au score, les Basques ont une fois de plus fait étalage de leur solidité à domicile. Ils sont en effet les seuls, avec Toulon, à avoir remporté toutes leurs rencontres à domicile cette saison.

Ils ont construit ce nouveau succès méthodiquement. Deux essais (Rouet 9e, Tatafu 27e) et deux pénalités de Joris Segonds (25e, 40e) pour distancer l’adversaire en première période. Puis la quête du bonus offensif après la pause, avec deux nouveaux essais en quatre minutes peu avant l’heure de jeu (Erbinartegaray 53e, Tiberghien 57e).

Le LOU, qui restait sur une dynamique très positive qui lui a permis de grimper à la 5e place, juste derrière Bayonne, a eu du mal à exister. En manque de réalisme, les joueurs de Karim Ghezal ont dû attendre la 65e minute pour atteindre enfin l’en-but bayonnais.

Le déplacement est particulièrement mauvais pour les Lyonnais, qui ont aussi perdu sur civière leur feu follet géorgien Darrit Niniashvili après un choc en l’air avec Artur Iturria.
