Benetton take historic step in Parma

Benetton became the first Italian side to reach the Guinness Pro14 Final Series after winning 25-11 at Zebre.

Luca Morisi and Toa Halafihi both scored first-half tries, while Sebastian Negri and Monty Ioane went over in the second period as Benetton extended their season with victory over their fellow Italians.

Zebre were restricted to two first-half penalties from Maicol Azzolini before

Mattia Bellini scored a consolation try in the closing stages.

The victory secured Benetton a third-place finish in Conference B and they will play at Glasgow Warriors or Munster in a semi-final qualifier.

Just to point out that Ireland ‘testing themselves against the best’ in 2022, was one of the principle contributions to NZ eliminating them in 2023. France can beat NZ anyway: why go under their microscope?

This is really a lunatic theory RW. A series win in NZ is a huge filip to any side’s self-belief, and Ireland needed that sense of reinforcement.


FYI they were not revealing any rugby IP they had not already shown in home matches against the ABs in Dublin!


The idea that France ‘can beat NZ anyway’ away from home is preposterous. It ain’t so until they prove it.

I think every nation benefits from having the top IP from other countries in its system, not just France.


It would be a little craven to use ROG’s own honesty against him, wouldn’t it? Certainly not as an excuse to remove him from post.

I remember Steve Hansen once saying something along the lines of how ABs players don’t get the rest and recovery non-Ab super players get, so he wasn’t concerned if ABs players had rubbish form in the early rounds.

Scott will need to stand up come play offs though.

It’s not like he doesn’t know he hasn’t been up to scratch.

Hope he sorts it out.

Rugby down under could have hit high gear with Anzac Tests

I’m not massively interested in a third Bledisloe test. Though the Wallabies could be a real threat this year, as they have been improving and a hard series against the Lions could bring out the best in them.


I’m more interested in the NZRU getting more revenue. If they got a few million out of a third Bledisloe test that’s more top level talent available for the All Blacks.
