'I’m not trying to be a Nadolo' - Watson explains logic of new physique

England wing Anthony Watson says his added muscle mass hasn’t affected his speed and says he’s happy to stay at his new weight.

“It hasn’t been difficult to be honest,” the Watson told the press pack. “To be honest with you I haven’t really noticed it that much. It wasn’t something I was trying to do, it kinda happened.”

Watson has added 3kg to the 94kg playing weight he had during the British and Irish Lions tour.

“I’m more than happy to stay at his weight if Eddie wants me at this weight. I don’t think it has really affected me in terms of slowing me down. If I can be just as fast and heavy it’s only going to benefit me.”

However the 97kg Watson isn’t keen on getting too much bigger.

“I don’t want to get too much bigger. I’m not trying to be a Nadolo or something that,” joked Watson.

Elsewhere Eddie Jones says Owen Farrell is “full of beans” ahead of England’s Six Nations clash against Scotland, despite the Saracens centre cum flyhalf missing several training sessions this week.

Jones says it was part of a planned re-conditioning programme.

Eddie Jones said: “We are really excited about this game and we will need to be very tough and relentless in our defence to keep the pressure on this Scottish team.

“They are renowned for their attack so we will need to put pressure on them, create opportunities through our defence for our attack, and convert those opportunities to points.

“Our preparation over the last two weeks has been important in that it has allowed us to regenerate the players, improve the fitness of some and to get a clear understanding on how we will play this weekend.

“Nathan Hughes has worked hard on his fitness. I’ve never seen him in better physical condition, so we are looking forward to him playing. Nathan has a key role in defence and in us gaining momentum in attack.”
