Carbonel forfait, Segonds repêché pour la tournée en Argentine

L’opposition contre la Roumanie du samedi 22 juin a fait une victime, Louis Carbonel. Lundi 24 juin en soirée, la fédération française de rugby (FFR) a confirmé une information que Rugbyrama avait publié plus tôt : le forfait de Louis Carbonel, ex-ouvreur de Montpellier et futur du Stade Français pour la tournée en Argentine.

Un vrai coup dur pour le jeune joueur, champion du monde avec les Bleuets en 2018 et qui compte 5 sélections avec les Bleus, dont la dernière remontait au 13 juillet 2021. Sa présence en Argentine confirmée par communiqué dimanche 23 juin lui assurait quasi certainement d’autres sélections, contre l’Argentine.

Mais voilà, il semble que le jeune joueur de 25 ans se soit blessé aux ischio-jambiers lors de cette fameuse opposition contre la Roumanie à Marcoussis qui devait servir de rampe de lancement à une toute nouvelle génération – 34 des 42 joueurs partant en tournée n’affichant que moins de cinq sélections.

Pour le remplacer, le XV de France a fait appel à Joris Segonds, qui peut prétendre à devenir premier sur ce coup du sort ; il sera en concurrence avec Léo Berdeu (Lyon) et Antoine Hastoy (La Rochelle). En l’espace de 48h, le jeune ouvreur du Stade Français – qui évoluera sous les couleurs de Bayonne la saison prochaine – est passé des larmes de tristesse aux larmes de joie.
