Cheika axes 4 Pumas after All Blacks mauling

Argentina head coach Michael Cheika has revealed his team to face Australia in Round Two of the Rugby Championship in Sydney on Saturday.

The former Wallaby coach wielded the axe with four changes to his starting team, promoting former Sevens player Rodrigo Isgro for a debut on the wing.

Lucio Sordoni, Rodrigo Bruni, Matias Moroni and Sebastian Cancelliere are dropped.

Prop Francisco Gomez Kodela, flank Santiago Grondona and centre Jeronimo de la Fuente also come into the side.

Argentina started their Rugby Championship campaign with a 12-41 defeat to the All Blacks in Mendoza last weekend.

Australia, meanwhile, fell to a 12-43 defeat to South Africa in Pretoria.

Argentina: 15 Emiliano Boffelli, 14 Rodrigo Isgro, 13 Lucio Cinti, 12 Jeronimo De La Fuente, 11 Mateo Carreras, 10 Santiago Carreras, 9 Gonzalo Bertranou, 8 Juan Martin Gonzalez, 7 Santiago Grondona, 6 Pablo Matera, 5 Tomas Lavanini, 4 Matias Alemanno, 3 Francisco Gomez Kodela, 2 Julian Montoya (captain), 1 Thomas Gallo.

So, brilliant insight, we have a player that has been starring in sevens for around two years. We put him in the practice squad for a couple of weeks and then we start him in a test match. Yeah, right. Let me add, that Cinti has very limit4d experience in the position, so you have two unexperienced defenders out wide. Plus Gonzalez has never played 8. What is Cheika doing?
