Test Lion among 2 Scotland internationals leaving Edinburgh
Dave Cherry and Ali Price will both leave Edinburgh at the end of the season, the club have announced.
Both players are out of contract at the end of the current campaign and Edinburgh stated that they will take up playing opportunities abroad.
Hooker Cherry has over 100 appearances for Edinburgh since joining in 2018, reaching that landmark in the club’s 1872 Cup win over Glasgow Warriors in December.
The 34-year-old was also recalled to the Scotland squad for this year’s Guinness Six Nations campaign and featured in all of their games.
Scotland scrum-half Price arrived at Edinburgh from Glasgow in November 2023 and has made 34 appearances so far for the club.
Speaking about Cherry and Price, head coach Sean Everitt told the Edinburgh website: “Dave and Ali have both made significant contributions to Edinburgh Rugby and we thank them for their dedication and commitment to the club.
“Dave has given a lot during his time at the club, but it is a position we are well stocked with good young Scottish talent and, therefore, we have decided not to continue his deal, and wish him the very best in his next steps.
“Dave’s journey to becoming a centurion is a testament to his hard work and resilience, while Ali’s experience and leadership have been invaluable to the team.
“There is still a lot of rugby to be played this season, and I know both Dave and Ali will continue to play a key role in our run-in. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours and thank them for their service to Edinburgh Rugby.”
Edinburgh are back in action on Saturday with a home clash against Pretoria Bulls in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.
