Kidney was in charge of Ireland from 2008 to 2013 and guided them to their first Grand Slam in 61 years when they clinched the Six Nations title in 2009. Kiss joined the Ireland set-up in 2009.

Kidney hasn’t coached since, while Kiss was sacked as Ulster’s Director of Rugby in January.

London Irish are bottom of the Aviva Premiership, 12 points adrift of Worcester, and have won just twice all season.

The Telegraph say that Kidney and Kiss could be appointed next week, with future of director of rugby Nick Kennedy uncertain.

Speaking to RugbyPass in January Kennedy said if results didn’t turn he could lose his job.

“Yeah that’s professional sport at the top level, that’s life, it happens all the time. If you look at rugby in the last month or so, (Jim) Mallinder, Steve Tandy, that’s life, It is a results business and look I am completely responsible – if we are not getting the results it is my fault.  So yeah that is up to the board to decide, but I will still keep working extremely hard and hopefully the results are going to come so it won’t come to that.”
