EPCR are officially investigating Bastareaud-Negri homophobic incident
European Professional Club Rugby will review an incident involving Mathieu Bastareaud and Sebastian Negri after the Toulon centre appeared to direct a homophobic slur at the Benetton Treviso lock.
Bastareaud was seemingly incensed by something Negri said to him late in Toulon’s 36-0 European Champions Cup thrashing of the Italian side after the pair rose from the turf at Stade Mayol.

The furious France international then appeared to call Negri a “f***ing f****t” and Champions Cup organisers confirmed to Omnisport that the incident will be reviewed.
“EPCR has been made aware of an incident towards the end of today’s RC Toulon v Benetton Rugby Champions Cup match.” an EPRC statement said.
“This incident will be considered as part of EPCR’s customary extensive post-round review.”
