NZ/SA had 100-200 winning Knock Out RWC caps each. Ireland and France had collectively zero. A huge disadvantage. Again a fair draw would mean these teams meet in the SF where Ireland/South Africa players would have had knock out experience.

France have not been past the Quarters since 2011.

SH teams won't get such a lucky draw next time no matter how egotistical you are.

The support runner has a very short window to shoot through a gap before it closes- pass the ball early.

There are ways of imrpoving the D without changing the essential structure AD. For example there some occasiosn when Aussie defends with Nic White behind the ruck, meaning only 12 men in line. It's pretty easy to keep him in line all the time, and that narrows the line spacings.

Or they could play more aggressively off the wings, though I doubt that is part of the Lord's policy!

On reading this, I can see the role ball retention plays in defence. Lots of ball retention means less defence to do...or not do.

I love set piece moves, and hadn't thought of our breaks being in that context, but indeed they were.

I hope we can do other set piece plays, because I expect NZ to be a bit more ready for the moves we used this Test.

The defence worries me more though than the attack pleases me.
