RugbyPass went behind the scenes with the Italian rugby team as they prepare for a clash with the All Blacks at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, the Azzurri have entered a new era in their history.

We look at the challenges facing this new, young side as they look for a fresh start under the former Kiwis selector.

Great insider's view. Crowley is a great coach. He was instrumental in building a competitive and credible Canadian team. We in Canada miss him and wish him and the Azzuri well

France put World Cup pain behind them with unbeaten run in November

I thought Argentina were unlucky with Luke Pearce's decision for the penalty try. Clearly the ball did travel toward the Argentina try line after it was flapped at by the Argentine player although his hand motion was going the other way. Thus the result was that he slowed it down rather than deliberately knocked it on whatever his actual intention was. Playing with 14 for 20 minutes in the first half was too big a handicap.

If he didn't he'd be out on the street, and to his credit he made himself a better player than he'd ever been at home.

England well-stocked in the back-row aren't they DM? Ben Earl has not been carrying quite as effectively at 8 of late so PEarson may come into the equation for the 6N.

He has some credibility gut he is an emerging coach with experience in only one domestic league NC. Felix Jones has experience in Ireland, South Africa and England and has been part of world cup winning ventures, so Joe is playing catch-up in terms of knowledge.

Yes I remember him as a player too. He was a hard, decent flanker.


But the drop-off from Felix Jones is still immense. Coaching Top 14 D is very different to coaching D in international rugby - the priorities are different, the challenges are like chalk and cheese. It's a huge ask for him.

Spot on Tom. They gave every indication of buying in and it worked. It would have gotten better gain this autumn had he felt motivated to stay. But the key defenders are now looking confused in situations when it really matters. As you say it looks ragged and un-cohesive.

You have to have dreams to reach for the stars, but without believing it, it won't ever happen. It's one thing to say things to the media, quite another to believe what you regurgitate just for the journalists and the public. No one is fooled, and it's the one game they knew Wales will get smashed. The Boks won 10 games without being at their best. Even on their baddest day they will smash this Wales team.


I don't really blame the players. I blame the WRU. Their best players is not available due to restrictions, small change as pay and an overly believe in their own power that amounts to nothing. Get rid of them and Gatland, and maybe their will be an upwards curve. They will lose against the Boks, and also all the games in the 6N if they keep the current board. Italy will be able to smash them.
