Bernard Foley takes a penalty for Waratahs

Bernard Foley will return to the Waratahs’ starting XV against Hurricanes in Friday’s Super Rugby clash after recovering from concussion.

The Australia fly-half missed the first four games of the Super Rugby campaign with post-concussion symptoms after taking a blow to the head in pre-season.

He made his first appearance of 2017 in a stunning comeback win over Rebels, but was taken back out of the side that lost to Crusaders with assistant coach Chris Malone saying he would require extended periods of rest before reaching full fitness.

However, he will be back in the side once again for the trip to Wellington.

“Bernard has been given the clearance after further expert reviews, including a review with a neurologist, and treatment over the course of the last week,” head coach Daryl Gibson said.

“Having the experience of Bernard back in the team will hopefully give our side a boost ahead of the game.”

Taqele Naiyaravoro is also given a promotion to the Waratahs XV, while Hurricanes will be without All Black star Julian Savea on the wing, although Cory Jane returns as one of four changes.
