Glasgow the latest victims of a Leinster Champions Cup beatdown in Dublin
Leinster advanced to the semi-finals of the Investec Champions Cup with a dominant 52-0 victory over Glasgow Warriors in Dublin, who went the way of Harlequins in another one-sided European walloping.
Leo Cullen’s men ran in seven tries and were awarded a penalty try, shutting out a Glasgow side that struggled to live with Leinster’s tempo, precision and physicality in front of 23,000 fans at Irish Rugby HQ.
Blindside Max Deegan opened the scoring after 12 minutes before further tries from James Lowe, Tommy O’Brien and Hugo Keenan put Leinster firmly in control by half-time.
Glasgow standoff Adam Hastings was shown a yellow card midway through the first half for a deliberate knock-on that resulted in a penalty try.
Garry Ringrose, Dan Sheehan and Deegan again crossed after the break, with Sam Prendergast adding five conversions in an assured performance at fly-half.
Glasgow did have some fleeting attacking moments, most notably through fullback Kyle Rowe. However, Franco Smith’s side were unable to convert pressure into points and bow out of the competition with their tails between their legs.
