Glasgow Warriors player ratings vs Leinster | 2024/25 URC
Glasgow player ratings: A more competitive showing than their April annihilation in Dublin, but the Warriors still lacked the control and precision needed to really trouble Leinster over 80 minutes.
Here’s how the visitors rated in their 13–5 defeat.
1. Jamie Bhatti – 5
Struggled against Clarkson, who is still in his infancy as a scrummager. Gave away ground at the set-piece and was replaced early in the second half.
2. Seb Stephen – 6
Carried competently in traffic and didn’t shirk his work. Replaced after 63 minutes as Leinster started to gain ascendancy.
3. Finlay Richardson – 5
Edged by Porter, which there’s no shame in, but couldn’t make much headway around the park either.
4. Olujare Oguntibeju – 7
Up for the fight and fired up. A good lineout option and put himself about before making way at the 70-minute mark.
5. Alex Samuel – 7
A fine lineout option at 6’9″, even if he looks a little lumbering in the loose. A solid 42-minute shift before being subbed off early in the second half.
6. Macenzzie Duncan – 7
A powerful unit who was eager to carry and no slouch at the breakdown either. Brought a physical edge that was lacking in April.
7. Rory Darge – 6
Strangely quiet from the highly rated flanker. Worked hard off the ball but didn’t have his usual influence at the breakdown or in open play.
8. Euan Ferrie – 6
Kept plugging away without ever really stamping himself on the contest. Part of a back row that showed physicality but couldn’t consistently disrupt Leinster’s flow.
9. Ben Afshar – 6
Lost the ball on a couple of occasions and lacked the composure needed in a tight contest.
10. Adam Hastings – 5
A couple of poor kicks blotted his copybook and put his team under pressure, including being blown for taking the ball back over his own line. Hooked a conversion attempt wide left. A scrappy one.
11. Kyle Steyn – 6.5
A couple of errors defensively didn’t help his cause, but he did manage a strong early break on nine minutes.
12. Sione Tuipulotu – 8
A very good return to action, clearly with a point to prove and precious few games before the Lions tour. Bossed the contact zone and brought the fight to Leinster where others couldn’t. Departed at half-time with his mark made.
13. Huw Jones – 7
Quietly effective in the first half, helping to link with Tuipulotu in attack. Defensively sound, but saw less ball in the second period.
14. Sebastian Cancelliere – 7.5
Beat Leinster defenders left, right, and centre. Key involvement in George Horne’s try with a sharp line break. One of Glasgow’s liveliest attacking threats.
15. Kyle Rowe – 6
Couldn’t quite unpick the Leinster defence when running it back, but he was game. Made a strong run in the build-up to Cancelliere’s break.
REPLACEMENTS
16. Gregor Hiddleston – 6
On for the final 10 minutes. Energetic and tidy in his basics, though not enough time to fully impress.
17. Nathan McBeth – 5
The scrum didn’t improve with him on, and Glasgow continued to concede parity at the set-piece.
18. Murphy Walker – 6
Added bulk at tighthead after coming on at 54 minutes.
19. JP du Preez – 5
Fell off a few tackles, most notably on Tommy O’Brien during the fullback’s second-half surge.
20. Scott Cummings – NA
Came on in the dying minutes.
21. Stafford McDowall – 6
Struggled to match Tuipulotu’s impact after replacing him at half-time. A couple of promising touches but mostly well-marshalled by Leinster.
22. George Horne – 7.5
Took his try well with a smart support line and sharp finish. Injected pace and energy into the Glasgow attack in the final quarter.
23. Tom Jordan – 6
Gave away a needless penalty for shoulder-checking Jimmy O’Brien into touch but otherwise was solid. Played the entire second half.
