Gloucester Rugby delete this 'amazingly misjudged' Tweet in aftermath of Challenge Cup loss
Gloucester Rugby – nor many of their fans for that matter – are not at all happy with referee Jerome Garces’ performance in the Challenge Cup final tonight at the San Mames stadium in Bilbao.
Cardiff Blues ran out 31 – 30 winners after clinching victory with a 78th minute Gareth Anscombe penalty having staged an impressive comeback.
However there a were a number of controversial decisions, not least Cardiff’s second try.
However, immediately after the official Gloucester Rugby posted a Tweet that has been described as ’embarassing’, in ‘poor taste’ and ‘amazingly misjudged’.
The tweet that was deleted after a couple of minutes read: “A long, season decided by that. Decisions from officials swing the fixture. And the average Premiership team are beaten.”
They acknowledged the faux pas shortly thereafter, but not before it was highlighted on BT Sports postmatch coverage.
Poor tweet earlier. Apologies.
*slaps wrist*

The Tweet was widely condemned, not least by Gloucester fans themselves.

A reminder to step away from Twitter after a tight loss.
