Powerful Harlequins centre Luke Northmore decides future
Harlequins have announced that outside centre Luke Northmore has put pen to paper on a new contract to extend his stay at the Stoop.
The Plymothian, who used to flog pasties for a living in a Tavistock bakery, has made 77 appearances for Quins and scored 25 tries since moving to South West London after graduating from Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Northmore, 28, has become an integral cog in the Quins midfield. He can play at inside centre as well as on the wing and has been included in several England squads, including the 2024 summer tour to Japan and New Zealand.
He was also part of the Quins squad that lifted the Premiership Trophy at Twickenham in 2021 and says Harlequins feels like home now, having come a long way from his days as head baker at the Pasty House.
“Harlequins does feel like home now. This is my sixth season at the club, and I’m over the moon to be sticking around and re-signing. I’ve loved my time at the club so far.
“And it’s really promising to see the number of boys that have re-signed already this season. There is great talent in this squad, young and old, and hopefully, we can achieve some great things together over the next few years.
“First and foremost, I want to get back on the field and be consistent for Quins and try to achieve goals with this group. I’m optimistic that whatever comes off the back of that for me will be positive.”
Head Coach Danny Wilson added: “Luke possesses a fantastic skillset and great all-round ability that makes him a top player on both sides of the ball, and in my time at the club, he’s demonstrated the impact he can have on games.
“Luke joins a list of 13 key senior players who have renewed this season, and we’re delighted he’ll continue to wear the Quarters for seasons to come.”
