Director of Rugby Chris Boyd confirmed the news today.

“Harry’s operation is today and he’s got a significant knee injury,” the New Zealander said.

“It depends what they find when they go in there but he’s probably doubtful for the rest of the season.”

The 22-year-old Academy product has took to Instagram on Monday night saying: “Operation #7 in the morning. I’m devastated, but it’s an opportunity to become a better player and person. I’m grateful to have such good people with me on my journey, thank you for all of your continued support.? H”

Mallinder picked up a ligament injury in Northampton’s 41-20 home defeat to Clermont Auvergne in the European Challenge Cup ten days ago.

He’s been on Eddie Jones’ radar, he was selected for the 2017 summer tour to Argentina and was in England’s 6 Nations squad for this 2018 Championship.
