Newcastle have moved to head off bids for captain Callum Chick by making the England No8 a lucrative offer to keep him at Kingston Park following reports that Gloucester had identified him as a possible replacement for Zach Mercer, who is set to return to France.

Falcons have already lost England hooker Jamie Blamire to Leicester Tigers next season while Pumas lock Pedro Rubiolo, currently out with a long-term leg injury, has also agreed to join Bristol Bears.

The additional departure of 28-year-old captain Chick would be a massive body blow to Newcastle, who are looking for a new investors to take over from current owner Semore Kurdi.

The club have only spent £3.5million of the allowed £6.4m salary cap and they have been able to offer a financial package that Steve Diamond, the director of rugby, believes will keep Chick at the Falcons.

Chick played a key role in the successive Gallagher Premiership wins over Exeter and Saracens that ended a debilitating 25-game run of league defeats, moving the club off the bottom of the Premiership.

Diamond, who hopes new investors will allow him to sign a fresh group of international players next season, has 35 players out of contract that the end of this season and retaining Chick is his No1 priority.

He said: “Callum is happy with the offer and we have had a conversation. Hopefully, we will put the paperwork in place very soon and it’s very important to hold onto him and that is reflected in the offer that we made to him. We are discussing staying at the club with other players as well and it’s a busy time for me.

“Recruitment is important but retention is even more important. We have 35 players out of contract and I want to keep 28, and I’m confident of keeping them. I’m sure that Callum will have had other offers but he is a north-east lad and the club has rested on his shoulders for the last year or two.

“Hopefully, with the positive news about looking for new investors and the way the team is performing, and a lot of that is down to him, it is important we get that one over the line.”

Having lost to Pau in the European Challenge Cup last weekend, Newcastle will look to regain winning momentum at home to Dragons next Sunday before resuming their Premiership campaign.

“Dragons are a good side and we respect them with a good forward pack,” added Diamond. “We will have to be on the ball to continue our home run. We have Bath coming up in the Premiership and this is a chance for the guys to step up.”

Leinster cleanse palette with record URC scoreline against Zebre

My name is Solenn Bonnet, and I am a single mother navigating the challenges of raising my two-year-old child while trying to make ends meet. I came across a trading platform that promised astonishing daily profits of 18%. The allure of such a high return on investment was too tempting to resist, and I found myself drawn into cryptocurrency trading. Excited by the prospect of financial freedom, I invested a significant amount of my savings, totaling over 5.7 BTC. However, what started as a hopeful venture quickly turned into a nightmare. The platform was a scam, and I lost everything I had invested. The emotional toll of this loss was immense; I felt devastated and helpless, struggling to provide for my child and keep up with my bills. In my desperate attempt to recover my funds, I sought help from various recovery experts. Unfortunately, I encountered numerous fraudulent individuals who claimed they could help me retrieve my lost money. Each time I reached out, I was met with disappointment and further scams, which only deepened my despair. Last year was one of the most challenging periods of my life, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about my financial future. Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, I confided in a close friend from church about my situation. She listened compassionately and shared her own experiences with financial difficulties. Understanding my plight, she introduced me to Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a group of skilled hackers known for their expertise in recovering lost funds. Skeptical yet hopeful, I decided to reach out to them as a last resort. Their services came at a higher cost, but my friend generously offered to help me with a partial payment. I was amazed by how quickly they responded and began the recovery process. Their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire ordeal. To my relief, they successfully recovered more than I had lost to those heartless scammers. This was truly transformative, and I felt a sense of relief and gratitude that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I strongly encourage anyone who has faced similar challenges or fallen victim to scams to reach out to Tech Cyber Force Recovery. If you’ve invested in a fraudulent platform like I did, they are highly capable of helping you reclaim your hard-earned money. Don’t lose hope; there is a way to recover what you’ve lost.
