I had to let you know that your above comment is excellent and really made me think. Personally I've always been quite against players being qualified for multiple nations, switching nations, qualification by residency, etc. as I feel it cheapens the International game. I've historically been quite critical of e.g. Scotland and some of their recruitment.

I won't say that you've completely changed my mind, but you have made me appreciate the other side of the argument differently. I hadn't considered the arguable benefits that you point out in your last paragraph in quite that way before.

So you need to pay closer attention to the data in you're interested. Sure, legends like Lomax had kids overseas, but you're going to struggle to think of names gone. Families like the Vunipola's or Falatau's, Lynagh's or Stokes are also very unlikely to come back downunder to play/represent their heritage nation if they can demand national wages for a 6N country.

TLDR, examples from this article are heritage qualified, yours a residency qualified, both will die out in the representation of how it plays out in this article.

But as I've said in other replies, microcosms will still play out in area's like Asia Pacific (with school systems largely entwined) where 5 year residency is not likely to hinder eligibility, and Britain and other new places (possibly S. America, ANZAC?) with open borders/citizenship for heritage eligibility purposes.
