‘I respect Damian’: How Canes plan to stop ‘world-class’ Chiefs players

Midfielder Jordie Barrett is confident that the Hurricanes are ready to manage the Chiefs’ “world-class” players in their top-of-the-table clash this weekend.

The Chiefs started their season with an opening round demolition of title holders the Crusaders, and they haven’t looked back since.

Spurred on by star playmakers Damian McKenzie and Brad Weber, the Hamilton-based outfit have taken the competition by storm – winning all six of their matches so far.

While their form this season has been nothing short of flawless, the Chiefs were bumped off the top of the Super Rugby Pacific standings in round seven.

During their bye week, the Hurricanes recorded a 29-14 win over New Zealand rivals the Highlanders – and leapfrogged the former competition frontrunners into first place.

The result sets up a titanic battle between two fierce North Island rivals on Saturday afternoon.

Coming up against a team with plenty of talent including the likes of Damian McKenzie, Hurricanes star Jordie Barrett said the Canes have “to be wary of the threat they pose.”

“I know it sounds cliché but we have systems that we try and cover teams with throughout the season,” Barrett said on The Platform.

“But when there’s individuals that have their fingerprints all over their game, you’ve got to be wary of the threat they pose.

“We’ll have certain things we’ll want to try and do to Damian, and also just limit his opportunity.

“You can prep where you want for world-class players but whether you like it or not, they’ll find ways to get into the game.

“I respect Damian and his game, and he’s been outstanding this year.

“I think we’ve got a decent plan for the Chiefs this weekend and I guess time will tell.”

For the Hurricanes, they’ve got a point to prove after being pinned with the “underdogs” tag by former All Blacks backrower Steven Bates.

They’ve only lost one match this season, and that was a thriller against the Blues at Sky Stadium. But now is their opportunity to stake their championship credentials against the mighty Chiefs.

“We’ve got some great leaders and some great players around me in this team,” he added.

“We all share the load and take a lot of responsibility now.

“The luxury we have here at the Canes now there’s some world-class players in a lot of different positions and we’ve got a lot of depth.”

The highly anticipated New Zealand derby between the Hurricanes and Chiefs set to kick off at 2.35pm NZST at Sky Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Leinster cleanse palette with record URC scoreline against Zebre

My name is Solenn Bonnet, and I am a single mother navigating the challenges of raising my two-year-old child while trying to make ends meet. I came across a trading platform that promised astonishing daily profits of 18%. The allure of such a high return on investment was too tempting to resist, and I found myself drawn into cryptocurrency trading. Excited by the prospect of financial freedom, I invested a significant amount of my savings, totaling over 5.7 BTC. However, what started as a hopeful venture quickly turned into a nightmare. The platform was a scam, and I lost everything I had invested. The emotional toll of this loss was immense; I felt devastated and helpless, struggling to provide for my child and keep up with my bills. In my desperate attempt to recover my funds, I sought help from various recovery experts. Unfortunately, I encountered numerous fraudulent individuals who claimed they could help me retrieve my lost money. Each time I reached out, I was met with disappointment and further scams, which only deepened my despair. Last year was one of the most challenging periods of my life, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about my financial future. Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, I confided in a close friend from church about my situation. She listened compassionately and shared her own experiences with financial difficulties. Understanding my plight, she introduced me to Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a group of skilled hackers known for their expertise in recovering lost funds. Skeptical yet hopeful, I decided to reach out to them as a last resort. Their services came at a higher cost, but my friend generously offered to help me with a partial payment. I was amazed by how quickly they responded and began the recovery process. Their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire ordeal. To my relief, they successfully recovered more than I had lost to those heartless scammers. This was truly transformative, and I felt a sense of relief and gratitude that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I strongly encourage anyone who has faced similar challenges or fallen victim to scams to reach out to Tech Cyber Force Recovery. If you’ve invested in a fraudulent platform like I did, they are highly capable of helping you reclaim your hard-earned money. Don’t lose hope; there is a way to recover what you’ve lost.
