Zanon made his Benetton debut in 2017 and made 47 appearances and scored 15 points scored.

He will transfer to Section Paloise in France this week.

“Obviously when a player leaves it is always a disappointment for us,” said the General Manager of the Lions Antonio Pavanello. “In the past few days Marco has communicated to us the opportunity that had presented itself to him and his willingness to accept.

“However, together with the technical staff, we assessed that we were well covered in that role and therefore considered it right to allow him to take it right away. We thank Marco for these 5 years and in particular for the sacrifices made, more than anyone else, since he was the first player with whom we started our permit project which was in the heart of its evolutionary phase. Permit project , now widely recognized and extremely important both for the growth of young Italian athletes who arrive at Benetton Rugby and for our club”

Zanon paid tribute to the URC club.

“The relationship that binds me to Benetton Rugby was born in 2012, when I took my first steps in Ghirada with the U16. In these ten years I have grown a lot as a player, but above all as a man. I will always be grateful to the club for having believed in me from the beginning and for allowing me to live in a world-class rugby reality. Recently the opportunity presented itself for me to play in TOP14 with the Section Paloise, a dream that I have always had and that in this particular moment of my sporting career and life, I decided to seize in order to continue my growth path. It goes without saying that if this dream is coming true, it is also thanks to the support of the club, the staff, my teammates and our fans. Thanks to everyone for these years lived together, on and off the pitch. Every person I met along the way taught me something that I will always carry with me and for that I am extremely grateful to you. I wish you all the best for your future and for the rest of the season, you deserve it individually and as a team. I will always cheer for you! Forever a Lion ”
