Jaguares triumph as Waratahs' struggles continue

The Jaguares have secured their first win of the season after trampling the struggling Waratahs in Buenos Aires.

The home side needed just 16 seconds to score their first try, running back the opening kick off for a spectacular 80 metre try. Mario Ledesma’s men added three more unanswered tries in the first 18 minutes to race out to a 26-0 lead.

Winger Emiliano Boffelli had two tries to his name after ten minutes.

Jed Holloway crossed the line for the visitors in the 34th minute to offer a glimmer of hope, but a try to 20-year-old Bautista Delguy on the stroke of halftime saw the Jaguares take a 33-7 lead into the sheds.

The visiting Waratahs fought back in the second spell, picking up three tries of their own, including an Israel Folau effort on the other side of the final hooter to deny the Jaguares a bonus point.

The Waratahs, who have just one win from their first three matches, are already nine competition points behind the resurgent conference leading Melbourne Rebels, who they meet in Sydney next week.

The Jaguares will take on the Queensland Reds in Buenos Aires next week as they enter the second half of a five-game home stand.
