Laidlaw returns to Gloucester after injuring ankle

Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw has returned to Gloucester to have an ankle injury examined after he limped out of Sunday’s Six Nations defeat to France.

Laidlaw was forced off in the 24th minute of a physical encounter in Paris that resulted in five Scots being laid low.

The 31-year-old was pictured leaving the Stade de France on crutches wearing a protective boot and Scotland coach Vern Cotter faces an anxious wait to see if the scrum-half will be fit to face Wales in two weeks’ time.

Back-rowers John Barclay and his replacement John Hardie have both entered HIA assessments after picking up head knocks in the 22-16 defeat. Alex Dunbar and Fraser Brown are also having head injuries monitored.

Josh Strauss “will require further care and assessment” after injuring his side.

England find winning formula in high scoring second half against Ireland

If the author thinks that Ireland were ever in control of that match they were watching a different one to me. In the first half Ireland kept England at bay by ferocious tackling and competing at the breakdown with long relieving kicks downfield. That enabled them to stay in the contest but the second half was just one way traffic.

One person and one person alone is to blame for this awful display and that is the once-was-OK coach, Jake White. How on earth you can choose a hooker that can’t even throw the ball in straight, and a flank who still hasn’t learnt how to tackle, and also doesn’t realise that games on fake turf require some previous practise (to say nothing about his kak preparations for English winter weather as in the match against Saracens which also included the really dom lack of common sense in a back that didn’t know you had to touch the ball before passing it after a mark) I’m afraid I just don’t understand.

That’s nothing to do with the Cake Tin. It could use some mods for sure, but far too much emphasis is put on shape, it’s just an excuse for those that don’t want to go anymore.


Now Wellington could do with a nice boutique 12-15k stadium that it would make more sense to have as the Canes home. They can take the big games to the Cake Tin if and when they get them.

Yeah that was a shocker I would have given him red for that. Really interesting around the Blues, it simply appears that they have given up on their attempt to play more expansive rugby and are now just doing what they did last year. Scary, but they couldn’t knock over Saders doint that last year!

Two things were evident about this weekend’s ruby.The more money the team has the more successful it is and that Farrell is still a twat and a liability for any team he plays for.Seriously though as was shown by Saracens,if you spend more money you get more success.The supporters of these mega teams care not a jot that they have bought success and probably don’t recognise the fact,and I can’t blame them.I watched far too much rugby over the last few days and I enjoyed the challenge cup far more than the so called major competition.Because there was actual competition.There is no answer other than one that the top teams would never agree to.

NSW were doing a good early shunt in the lineout maul in the weekend too, but Chiefs shut that down next entry by holding the lifted a tad longer. Good abrasive effort by NSW though, what weve seen at home from them all year right from the Landers game.
