The Italian side have not lost since a December defeat to Harlequins and are unbeaten in the Pro14 since November.

And they appeared on course for yet another triumph on Friday as Iliesa Ratuva Tavuyara’s try and Ian McKinley’s conversion gave them a 17-10 lead on the hour mark.

However, Dan McFarland’s Ulster, who had initially taken the lead through Louis Ludik’s first-minute try, earned a share of the spoils with the game clock past 80 minutes as referee Nigel Owens pinged Treviso for bringing down a rolling maul.

Treviso go up to second in Conference B, which Leinster lead by 21 points after they overcame Scarlets 22-17 as tries from Rory O’Loughlin, James Lowe and Barry Daly proved enough.

Glasgow Warriors went top of Conference A, ending a three-match losing run in Pro14 with a 9-3 defeat of Ospreys, Brandon Thomson kicking three penalties.
