Leicester fight off Premiership rivals to keep Ollie Hassell-Collins
England international Ollie Hassell-Collins has signed a new deal with Leicester Tigers, as reported by RugbyPass.
The 25-year-old had piqued the interests of Gloucester, but the Cherry and Whites have failed in the attempt to lure him from Welford Road.
Hassell-Collins made the move from London Irish to the Tigers in 2023 and has gone on to score 16 tries in 31 appearances.
The announcement comes the day after centre Solomone Kata also committed his future to the club.
Since arriving in the Midlands, the wing has failed to add to the two caps he earned in the 2023 Six Nations campaign. He has left the door open to a potential switch to represent Wales in the future, for whom he would qualify in 2026 due to his Welsh grandmother.
“It’s great to have this sorted and to know I’ll be playing my rugby here,” he said.
“Playing for a club like this is a privilege and I’m enjoying life in Leicester.
“We have a great squad, brilliant coaches and amazing support so there’s nowhere I’d rather be right now.”
Tigers head coach Michael Cheika added: “Ollie’s form so far this season shows exactly why we really wanted him to continue his rugby journey at Leicester.”
“He still has plenty of upside also and together we can definitely realise that.
“He is a great character in our squad and it’s great that he will be in the green and red going forward”.
