Leicester Tigers player ratings vs Bristol | 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership
Leicester Tigers player ratings: Michael Cheika’s Tigers earned a precious 5 points on the road with a gutsy 36-19 win over Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate.
Here’s how we rated the players:
15. Freddie Steward – 8
A composed first-half showing that included a lovely 50:22 and a safe pair of hands under pressure. Was caught in no-man’s land for Ravouvou’s try but made amends with a classy score of his own to seal the bonus point.
14. Adam Radwan – 8.5
Sniffed out a try early doors after JVP’s break and generally gave Bristol the ick in defence. Won a turnover, beat defenders, and ran with a pleasingly violent menace.
13. Solomone Kata – 5.5
Had some sharp attacking touches but let himself down with looseness in possession. A brainrot high shot in the 69th minute saw him binned, and it’s certainly not the first time his discipline has let him down.
12. Joseph Woodward – 6
Decent with ball in hand but looked defensively raw. Tackling wasn’t convincing against Bristol’s chuck-everything attack.
11. Ollie Hassell-Collins – 7.5
A good showing. Owes Bristol’s Gabriel Ibitoye a pint for the errant pass he scooped up to score. Put a few thunderous hits in in defence.
10. Handre Pollard – 7
Controlled the first half beautifully. Nailed his kicks and pulled the strings in a Leicester spell that was close to perfect for 40 minutes.
9. Jack van Poortvliet – 8.5
Ran the show. Created Radwan’s opener and sold the dummy of the match before sniping over for Tigers’ third. A first rate showing.
1. Nicky Smith – 7
Had his hands full with Kloska but did what was needed. Unspectacular but no complaints.
2. Julian Montoya – 7
Tiptoed around the lawbook at times but led the pack with typical fire.
3. Joe Heyes – 6
Had a ding-dong battle with Ellis Genge until a head-on-head collision earned him a yellow just before the break.
4. Cameron Henderson – 8
All action and effort – put his body in places most people wouldn’t put their foot. Tackled his guts out and his late try was very much deserved.
5. Ollie Chessum – 6.5
Quieter than usual around the park but disrupted Bristol’s lineout well.
6. Hanro Liebenberg – 8.5
The kind of dark arts specialist who should have a wand. Monstrous at lineout defence and a general nuisance.
7. Tommy Reffell – 7.5
Tackled like an over-caffeinated sheepdog and turned over ball when it mattered. Came off just before things got loose.
8. Olly Cracknell – 7.5
Tigers’ primary battering ram. Made hard yards and ate contact like it was a free buffet. Took a knock but passed his HIA.
Replacements:
16. Charlie Clare – 6.5
Came on and kept the set piece ticking over. Nothing flash but did his bit.
17. James Whitcombe – N/A
Not on long enough to rate.
18. Will Hurd – 6.5
Got two goes at it in the second half and didn’t let the side down.
19. Matt Rogerson – 7
Added some go-forward and carried with intent. One of the better showings from the bench.
20. Emeka Ilione – N/A
Not on long enough to rate.
21. Ben Youngs – 6.5
Brought experience and a bit of order as the game got increasingly loose.
22. Jamie Shillcock – N/A
Not on long enough to rate.
23. Dan Kelly – 6.5
Shored things up defensively after replacing Woodward.

Some very strong tigers performances all around. Particularly confused at your rating of Nicky Smith. Was a close call for man of the match on commentary.
Scrum penalties, turn over penalties, tackled well and a nuisance at the break down.
Unspectacular?
