Leicester Tigers Women announce coaching staff changes ahead of 2025/26 season

Leicester Tigers has today confirmed that Women’s Head Coach Tom Hudson will depart the club in the summer after two seasons as part of the coaching team.

Hudson played a role as Senior Coach during the club’s debut campaign in Premiership Women’s Rugby before being promoted to Head Coach ahead of the current season. Assistant Coach Luke Stratford will also depart at the conclusion of the current campaign.

The club currently sit second bottom of the PWR table with just two wins from 13 and three rounds of regular season rugby remaining, where the club will face reigning champions Gloucester-Hartpury, Trailfinders and Exeter Chiefs.

The club boasts a contingent of international players including England’s Red Roses co-captain Megan Jones and hooker Amy Cokayne as well as Scotland players Jenny Maxwell, Leah Bartlett, Fran McGhie and Canada’s Claire Gallagher.

The club has stated that the recruitment process for the lead role within the women’s programme has begun for next season and beyond.

The Waratahs lock Amatasero is a prime example, although he doesn’t look like international quality yet.

This is an interesting point CM. MA came back from Clermont with big wraps but it hasn’t materialized as yet.

He has size and French clubs love that, but he’s still very very raw and he’s 22 now.

If clubs from NZ and Aussie do start striking such deals, I think they need to be careful about where their players are seeded. Even Exeter are in big trouble atm, they lost by almost 80 points to Gloucester at the weekend.

In the absence of proof positive you need to go with the law as it is - open to interpretation by coaches, and generally good for the game’s development.

You should ask yourself why you think 5-3 is so sacrosanct, and players have to be labelled simply because you wish it so?

James O’Connor turned that game , Crusaders vs Western Force on it’s head. He got the back line going and was banging kicks over the posts from everywhere. I hope he gets in the Wallabies. It is a difficult balancing act for Rugby Unions. But I think there is a lot of merit in players getting in different environments re Jordie Barrett, James O’Connor etc.

Its a shame you dont know your rugby. SH test rugby is made up of many nations. 4 are in the top 5 and 2 are THE TOP TWO in the world and fought the last WC final out. Beat all NH sides by then. With Fiji in at 9 that puts 5 SH sides in the top 10 so your 7 claim is wrong. And SA also chooses test players from Japan so no doubt you rank that comp highly.

All this makes a real mockery of your claim that the playing talent is streets ahead. Of who? Only Ireland and France rank above Argentina.

What’s undeniable is that Barrett is playing alongside much better players at Leinster than he would in NZ. And he is playing in more difficult conditions - from the Highveld in SA to freezing conditions in Scotland - which prepares you better for Test rugby than hopping over the Tasman for another game of touch rugby.

Haha thats funny and so easy to deny.. Even the Canes have a very talented side. If playing for the Canes he would have an AB at 1, 2, 3, Pom at 4, AB 7, AB 8, AB 9, AB 10, AB 13 with him at 12 and could well be amongst 11 other ABs if they started them all in the same match. Dream on all you like but those ABs beat Ireland not just Leinster.

I think the Wallabies would be mad to not pick James O’Connor. The way he has played for the Crusaders, highlighted by his winning kick in the wet against the Blues. But he has options. I am so pleased for Rivez Reihana . He played in a classy fashion off the bench against the Highlanders. Hardly any rugby , but a lot of prep work that came to fruition for him.
