Leinster boss outlines reasons for signing 'world-class' Rieko Ioane

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has backed Rieko Ioane to have an impact on and off the pitch when the 81-cap All Black arrives in Dublin next season.

It was announced on Wednesday that Ioane had signed a seven-month contract with Leinster and will emulate international teammate Jordie Barrett by testing himself in the United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup.

Ioane will join up with Leinster following the Autumn Nations Series this November and Cullen believes his ability and dedication can only be a benefit to the wider squad.

“Rieko is a world-class, 81-cap All Black who has been operating at the very top level of the international game and Super Rugby for many seasons,” Cullen said.

“He is an exciting, versatile outside back who will bring pace, rugby skills and experience to Leinster. That experience will add massive value to the group here and our younger players especially will learn so much from seeing how Rieko prepares, trains and plays.

“We can’t wait to welcome Rieko to Leinster and I’m sure all our supporters will join me in making him and his family feel at home when the time comes.”

Ioane’s fellow All Black Barrett put in a player of the match performance as Leinster booked their place in the Champions Cup semi-finals with a 52-0 demolition of Glasgow Warriors last Friday, which leaves them on course for a fifth European crown following three successive final defeats.

Leinster also sit eight points clear of Glasgow at the top of the URC table with four regular season matches to play as they chase a ninth title. It is that kind of pedigree that attracted Ioane to the Irish province.

“I’m looking forward to this exciting opportunity to play in Ireland and in Leinster, and to grow my game with such an iconic club with a rich history,” he said.

“I’m also looking forward to opening myself and my family up to new experiences away from home and to growing together in a new environment.

“I’d like to thank Leo and Leinster Rugby for the opportunity and NZRU and my Blues brothers. We’ve work to do yet this season, and I’m locked in for that, but I look forward to touching down in Dublin later this year and meeting all the Leinster supporters.”

If the Leinster fans were watching Reiko playing for the Blues vs Crusaders (on Easter Friday), they will be wondering if Reiko will actually do well at Leinster as he didn’t have a good game with bad defensive reads, poor attacking options & lost the pill several times.

Sexton on the coaching ticket now, too. This could be very fun.

Me boss, you not!

He would have been consulted then. So he would be sabotaging his own coaching career if he did anything silly.

Good move for him and his family. He will be appreciated and welcomed for that in Leinster. I think he was suprised by and enjoyed the craic he had with Irish supporters after the October International, which may have removed any concerns he had on that front.

He's been par only for years but that won't stop him being the shining light in leinsters backline, exactly the same as Jordie

Sexton will pick him up from the airport I hear.

What a terrible idea. Play Rieko up as Irelands nemesis, not their savior.

Right intention though. Toulon as Leicester’s replacement might have been a better idea however. Will be good to see Sullivan and Evans get a lot more time in midfield where they belong.

Sullivan has never been a midfielder. He was a 10 who they selected mainly at 15. Never 12 or 13. His bro in Wellington is a very good 13 tho.

He’s hardly going to say ‘I’ve made a dud deal here, I should have signed Manu’

Actually probably is compared to your call though!

I'm sure that Leinster, & indeed Irish fans, will be happy about this! 😂

Leinster cleanse palette with record URC scoreline against Zebre

My name is Solenn Bonnet, and I am a single mother navigating the challenges of raising my two-year-old child while trying to make ends meet. I came across a trading platform that promised astonishing daily profits of 18%. The allure of such a high return on investment was too tempting to resist, and I found myself drawn into cryptocurrency trading. Excited by the prospect of financial freedom, I invested a significant amount of my savings, totaling over 5.7 BTC. However, what started as a hopeful venture quickly turned into a nightmare. The platform was a scam, and I lost everything I had invested. The emotional toll of this loss was immense; I felt devastated and helpless, struggling to provide for my child and keep up with my bills. In my desperate attempt to recover my funds, I sought help from various recovery experts. Unfortunately, I encountered numerous fraudulent individuals who claimed they could help me retrieve my lost money. Each time I reached out, I was met with disappointment and further scams, which only deepened my despair. Last year was one of the most challenging periods of my life, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about my financial future. Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, I confided in a close friend from church about my situation. She listened compassionately and shared her own experiences with financial difficulties. Understanding my plight, she introduced me to Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a group of skilled hackers known for their expertise in recovering lost funds. Skeptical yet hopeful, I decided to reach out to them as a last resort. Their services came at a higher cost, but my friend generously offered to help me with a partial payment. I was amazed by how quickly they responded and began the recovery process. Their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire ordeal. To my relief, they successfully recovered more than I had lost to those heartless scammers. This was truly transformative, and I felt a sense of relief and gratitude that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I strongly encourage anyone who has faced similar challenges or fallen victim to scams to reach out to Tech Cyber Force Recovery. If you’ve invested in a fraudulent platform like I did, they are highly capable of helping you reclaim your hard-earned money. Don’t lose hope; there is a way to recover what you’ve lost.
