David Campese takes back his Joe Schmidt coaching Australia criticism

Perhaps you need to change your tune and rather than claim that Kiwis are out to undermine Ozzy rugby, point the finger at your NSW bogey. Or are you the only one who can sort this out? Schmidt seems to be taking players who were underperforming and turning them into a much better functional team from where I am sitting. In many ways, he has made better progress with the Wallabies than Razor has with the ABs - which has been pretty disappointing imo.

Gatland defiant but Welsh rugby no nearer escape route with Springboks looming

It's not going to make a huge difference either way, they don't have the players or the pathway to being them on... But I've always thought Gatland was overrated. All Wales' success was built on Shaun Edwards' defence. Since they parted company, Gatland has led both the Chiefs and Wales on historic losing streaks.


I don't think another coach would change their fortunes much so it may be better that Gatland is the one to take the pain for the next couple of years... the Welsh public will be after his head if this continues so he's got to pull a rabbit out the hat if he's going to keep his job.

Despite defeat in Paris, the real reason the All Blacks are feeling upbeat

I agree with a lot of this. Especially changing the contract side of AB rugby - even if the current structure is not the main reason Razor and others before him keep selecting players past their prime and only introducing new ones when forced to by injury. Then they act all surprised when a new player lives up to their potential and performs! Deification of good older players is a problem because, like Foster, it implies they have secret knowledge that plebs don't - despite the evidence before our eyes. Razor's first year has been a pretty big average and one hopes he gets some courage back around selection and game plan from lessons learned this year. Not hopeful though based on the selection for Italy. If they win well, (as they should) he will tout it as justification for his persistence this year but the reality is a "second" team from the squad would probably do the job.
