IRE were also held up over the line in H2 from a lineout maul. A goal line droppie ensued. But yes, they hardly posed a threat due to the extreme pressure laid on them by the BFs D.

Player comparisons: Black Ferns make World Cup statement against Ireland

The stats show that Jorja Miller’s “quieter game” is an ordinary player’s immense game. She was 2nd= for carries, 2nd for carry metres, 3rd= for tackles completed, 1st= for offloads, & 2nd for defenders beaten. Add in a linebreak, a try assist, a rubbed out try assist, & a turnover, etc & her quieter day at the office looms larger than life.

I’m not sure why the focus on ‘turnovers lost’ is important. But FYI. The game high was 4 lost by Irish player Dannah Obrien. The BFs lost 13 turnovers, 2 each by Alana, Jorja, Georgia, & Braxton, & 1 each from 5 other players. On the flipside, Alana won 2 turnovers & Jorja 1. None of the other BFs who lost turnovers, won any back. Neither did Dannah.

Totally agree about 2023 & 2024, they were the best team in both years.

They have gone backwards in 2025, started badly in R1, got better in R2, improved again this week in R3 and I suspect will be a little better next week.

. . . . and you don’t think he would immediately pick his former star player Wiese at Leicester and put him straight in the England team if you could? I like Willis but Wiese is still another level at No 8.

Rassie Erasmus was dead right with his All Blacks prediction

People forget SA weren’t that good before during the 2019 TRC but went straight into an 18 week RWC camp and it absolutely transformed that team and is why nobody saw it coming. I think that was Rassie’s greatest accomplishment as a coach but his biggest challenge is rebalancing this team and getting them in shape to peak for 2027 and a shot at immortality as treble winners.

England scored more points than both Canada and NZ but get panned by the media pundits whilst the same pundits eulogise about Canada and NZ. If you can play very poorly and still score 47 against the opposition, 42 in 48 minutes, that sounds like a good team to me.

You are correct mannie couldn’t control the team . But when is he meant to learn how ? … that’s why rassie dropped his balls . Zero back bone to follow through … rather a team that plays 20 minutes and fails trying . Rather then a team that can’t switch on for 60 minutes … or is this what the boks have come too ?? All they got is 20 minutes at the start or at the end 🤦‍♂️

We see the filtering of less talent than any other tier 1 nation.

How many caps does Hanekom have? Moodie has been in the squad for over 3 years, had only something like 10 caps, and doesn’t look any better than he did when he made his debut.

You hit the nail on the head; Codie and Beaudie are still performing. The SA old guard aren’t!

But there’s more to it than that. Etzebeth (for example) is still a very good player, but he isn’t the absolute monster he was a few years ago. Same with Kolbe. Same with Marx. The entire SA team is made up of good international players, but very few of them are at their actual peak, and so it is not surprising that SA look worse than they did a few years ago.

Yeah, I thought his approach was to basically pick the same XV every week for three years, then in a world cup year vary things up loads so that the best XV can remain fresh for the big games.

Now he’s rotating every week it just means that when he gets to the big games, the connections aren’t bedded in.

No I completely disagree. Rassie is maybe the best coach of all time, but he doesn't seem to have grasped the need to rebuild this side.

Probably he’s still the best guy for the job, but a change in face at the helm wouldn't be a disaster.
