Sorry CN to disagree. I have watched the game back again today. I wouldn’t say that England had first half control, it was fairly even though I think the only stat that Ireland had in their favour was dominant tackles, a combination of England’s lack of intensity and Ireland having to make more tackles. I think you can see Bemand’s influence in the way they took out the deep runner, a strength of England’s attack You cannot have control when your lineout isn’t functioning and your scrum is going backwards though strangely not penalised very often. I do applaud Ireland’s first half and watching today’s game, I feel that Scotland are there for the taking and I would put a lot of money on them beating Wales comfortably. Despite what they say England find it hard to get phsyched up for games that are not against NZ, Canada or France. Perhaps a B team would deliver a better initial minutes performance.

I played loose or tighthead for 46 years. Though I did keep it a secret that I was a prop when I left school until I was near 30.In those days if you took your opposite number low you had to be strong enough to keep him up otherwise it was a penalty against you for collapsing.

You are one of the most loyal supporters on here and follow them on matchdays, I appreciate it’s hard to be objective but there is no doubt Ireland had control early on, even before the first try it was England that was holding on keeping them away from the tryline with desperate defending. Their rush defence caused England problems and they read England’s running line well forcing mistakes from the Roses. 2nd half was all Roses

Ireland have the main ingredients to be increasingly competitive, Flood is a great player, Dalton has great control with a solid pack, although Wafer does struggle to impose against England, they need to continue to increase their depth to consistently challenge. I wasn’t surprised by RRs slow start but how long it took to figure what Ireland was doing and counter it, 9 and 10 particularly needed to adapt quicker as they were being read. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ZH is a great fly half but she does have a mistake in her, forward passes, knock ons etc, happens too regularly
