Multiple clubs swarming to lure Chris Harris from Gloucester
Chris Harris’s outstanding performances in Gloucester’s push for the Premiership play-offs have got clubs beating a path to his door, keen to sign him when his Kingsholm deal runs out at the end of the season.
The Scotland and Lions outside centre is one of the Premiership’s in-form players and has scored two tries in three games for the Cherry and Whites. He was brilliant in Saturday’s 53-28 win over West Country rivals Bristol Bears.
He is also a major reason why bookies have slashed the odds on Gloucester — now fourth in the Premiership and with just one point fewer than Leicester — from 40-1 in pre-season to 18-1 heading into the final stretch of games.
Carlisle-born Harris, 34, who won the last of his 47 Scotland caps against Romania at the 2023 World Cup and can also play inside centre or on the wing, has made 103 appearances for George Skivington’s side since signing in 2019.
A late bloomer who only turned professional at 24 after studying at Northumbria University, Harris played 101 games for Newcastle Falcons before moving to the West Country.
Arch-rivals Bath have also put him on their shopping list to replace England star Ollie Lawrence, who faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after an operation on an Achilles tendon injury.
Harris also has interest from the United Rugby Championship, with Glasgow Warriors and the Ospreys monitoring his recent form closely.
He has additionally attracted interest from Pro D2 high-flyers Provence, who are pushing for promotion to the Top 14, while Perpignan are also keen to bring him to France’s top flight.
Harris has even been sounded out about a potential move to Racing 92, who may enter the market for another outside back depending on whether they decide to play Joey Manu at centre or full-back.
It’s not a foregone conclusion that he will leave Gloucester, who have already signed Will Joseph from Harlequins for next season.

Is Joey Manu the same as Joseph Manu & if so has he actually signed from Toyota Verblitz to Racing or has ‘AI’ got it wrong again?
