North ruled out in late blow for Wales

Wales suffered a late blow prior to their Six Nations match with England in Cardiff as George North was forced to pull out of the hosts’ starting XV.

North and fellow back Dan Biggar had each been named in Wales’ team to face the reigning champions, despite suffering respective thigh and rib injuries in last weekend’s opening-round victory over Italy.

However, North was officially ruled out an hour before kick-off on Saturday, with Alex Cuthbert taking his place on the wing.

The news represented a significant blow to Wales’ hopes of ending England’s winning run in Tests, which stood at 15 ahead of the fixture at the Principality Stadium.

Winning the player award is a popularity contest not a reflection of whos actually the best … Beuaden won it in 2016-17 …2016 he gave Ireland there first win 2017 he couldn't kick 1 of 3 kicks in front of the post against the lions . Same year a rookie mounga made his debut and skinned him …

Carter played in a stacked All Blacks that allowed him to shine . Mounga hasn’t had that , thats why if he comes and gets the All Blacks going and then wins the world cup. There’s no doubt hes better than Carter. Not in popularity. But skill set .

I agree the scrum as a whole failed in two of the four clips. The other clips just don’t tell us anything because the ABs did not have their full complement. I also think it is easy to focus on the failures and not the successes. This team has cut through all opponents like a knife through butter at times yet nobody in this chorus on repeat mentions that. Unfortunately getting access to the video clips to show this is impossible for most. Like many I anticipated that this line up was wrong and we were looking at another a Wellington - and so it transpired - but it was wrong combinations and failure to meet power with power. Simple. Cody going off then threw everyone out. Small errors with big margins. But it does not mean this team is crap, TW is a failure or England the northern Boks. So Bleed I am with you except for the last comment - with the right combinations and a 6-2 impact bench we are not far behind at all.

Some fragile saffa fans in the comments here. Why do you guys struggle so hard emotionally when it comes to rugby?

I don’t think SA or NZ have anyone like McCaw or Johnson currently, but i think in this current climate they are reliant on some old heads nonetheless to motivate wins. There are cracks appearing as you can clearly see from the losses or amount of points both sides have conceded against inferior opposition. Sides like Italy, Georgia, Scotland etc. England on the other hand have a huge squad with a great level of experience/youth, hunger and athleticism - coupled with the right tactical approaches and the World Cup, in my opinion, will belong to the NH once again. 2 years is a long way to go however.

To much to answer mate but if moments decide who is best how did Mounga, with such imagined talent, bot win a POTY award? BB won 2, DC won 3, mounga won NONE.

Also we wouldn't have had a Carter or Cruden if Tazor was the coach back then. He would bot have selected them by the age they were already superstars.

Roigard makes such a difference to NZ,doesn’t he Nick?I thought he was the difference between the teams when the ABs played the Wallabies and a good chance the Wallabies would have beaten them if Christie was half.

All the Wallabies losses up to the England had been “good” as the games at one point or another lateish had still been winnable and some good footy played even last week they were there at one point not by luck just stacked errors and unable to defend them which was a hallmark of earlier in the season …they on the right track Super going to be huge as there are positions up for grabs

1. Joe Schmidt being allowed to criticise match officials in a press conference but Rassie getting banned for same. 2. Awarding the Coach Of The Year award to a little known French 7s coach inspite of Rassie winning The Rugby Championship + Rugby World Cup. 3. Removing the Coach Of The Year category altogether the very next awards cycle because Rassie is undeniable this time, there is no French 7s coach to use for deflecting criticism, all because politics dictate Rassie CANNOT be awarded at all cost. 4. Nominating 3 Boks so as to split the votes all this to facilitate Bielle-Biarrey winning the award as his votes will be concentrated. 5. I can go on the list is long… Current list of Boks suspended to try weaken the Boks, albeit in vain as the Boks are just winning: Andre Wessels, Lood De Jager, Franco Mostert, Makazole Mapimi…

He only played one test against the lions and missed good whack of Super and Rugby Championship but I hear u he looked off against Ireland but want to give him a chance to finish strong and Harry to but he has played a heap so why I benched him ..I feel to there is a largish amount of neutrals and Oz fans want to see Bobby play some 8 Fraser 100% needs to play there some would make giving Tizzano time off bench smoother and options … Oz got great loosies Brial, Uru, Cale ( if he can make it back) Tuilima, Reimer all quality players
