'One of Scotland’s best young back-rows' Ben Muncaster signs new deal
Scotland flanker Ben Muncaster has become the latest player to sign a new deal with Edinburgh, describing the decision as a “no-brainer”.
The 23-year-old has followed the likes of Freddy Douglas and Duhan van der Merwe in extending his stay in the Scottish capital in a deal that will run for another two seasons.
Muncaster has been in fine form this season, scoring five tries in six matches, and was rewarded with his first Scotland cap in November against Portugal.
He and his Edinburgh team-mates will be gearing towards back-to-back derbies with United Rugby Championship winners Glasgow Warriors over the coming weeks.
“I’m incredibly proud to re-sign with Edinburgh. It was a no-brainer,” he said after signing.
“This is my hometown club, and I’m loving playing my rugby here under Sean Everitt. The team is playing some exciting rugby, and I’m really enjoying my own game as well.
“I’m excited for the future. There is plenty of room for growth and we’re moving in the right direction as a squad.”
Head coach Sean Everitt added: “Ben is a hugely important player for this club, and we’re delighted that he has committed his future to Edinburgh.
“He’s a powerful ball-carrier, a strong defender, and a real competitor. Securing the services of one of Scotland’s best young back-rowers is a major boost for the club.”
