Owen Farrell injury scare - England captain pulls out of match, needing surgery
Owen Farrell is an injury doubt for England’s opening Six Nations match against Ireland after pulling out of Saracens match against Glasgow today.
Saracens reported that he pulled out due to a wrist injury.
The BBC are reporting that Farrell will now undergo a ‘minor’ operation on his thumb. According to the report Mark McCall says his recovery time is 7 to 10 days, putting in the doubt his participation in his team’s opening match against Ireland in Dublin.
The England star is set to captain his country in this year’s competition in the absense of Dylan Hartley.

“Owen will be captain by himself and he will certainly have great support from a number of senior players,” said Eddie Jones earlier this week.
The squad will travel for Portugal on Wednesday 23 January to begin their preparations. A squad of 25 players will depart for Dublin on Thursday 31 January.
