Japan win thriller, Black Ferns Sevens reach Vancouver SVNS semi-finals

Japan beat USA in HSBC SVNS thriller in Vancouver - Photo World Rugby Women

The Vancouver SVNS Series circuit has reached the playoff stage for another year, as the Women’s side of the draw follows on from the Men’s Day two action that saw the All Blacks Sevens get knocked out by Spain in overtime.

There were no dramas for the Black Ferns Sevens in the quarter-final stage, beating the Canada 7’s side convincingly after impressive performances from Jorja Miller and Stacey Waaka helped the Cory Sweeney-coached Black Ferns team reach tomorrow’s semi-final against Australia at 10:36 AM NZT.

The Black Ferns Sevens got off to a perfect start in their quarter-final at Vancouver’s BC Place, with Jorja Miller winning a turnover close to the line before she was able to walk in right under the posts.

It didn’t take long for Michaela Brake to have her say on the quarter-final against Canada, picking up the ball and doing a 360 to get away from the chasing defender.

Canada hit back straight after Brake’s eighth try of the tournament, as crowd favourite Asia Hogan-Rochester put a left foot step on Manaia Nuku to get on the outside, running away and scoring under the posts to the crowd’s delight.

Stacey Waaka showcased her power and determination, scoring a double within two minutes just before halftime.

Two quick tries from Miller and Kelsey Teneti that the Black Ferns chose not to convert, put the margin beyond Canada’s reach.

In the first of the quarter-finals on the Women’s side of the draw, overtime was needed to separate the USA and Japan.

USA started the quarter-final the stronger of the two sides, breaking away on two separate occasions using their speed and power to get past the Japanese defenders.

Japan didn’t give up there, finding their way back into the game with three quick tries late in the second half, that tied the scores on the full-time hooter, forcing overtime in the first quarter-final.

Minako Taniyama proved to be the hero for Japan in overtime, strolling in under the posts to send the Japanese Women’s SVNS side into the semi-finals against Fiji.

It was all one-way traffic in the second quarter-final between Fiji and Brazil, led by Sesenieli Donu and Mere Vocevoce both scoring quickfire doubles for Fiji.

Brazil were unable to string any sort of phases together, spending most of the game attempting to stop the Fijians from scoring.

Fiji will take on Japan in the Women’s semi-final tomorrow at 10:14 AM NZT.

HSBC SVNS Series powerhouses Australia were too good for the Great Britain 7’s side, as everyone contributed to a well-rounded team performance.

Teagan Levi opened the scoring for Australia, breaking through the line off a nice late cut, and sliding straight through to score under the posts.

Kahli Henwood proved to be too strong and too quick for the Great Britain defence, slicing through just to the right of the posts.

Australia were able to keep the momentum going early on in the second half, dotting down twice more to end Great Britain’s hopes of a semi-final berth at the Vancouver SVNS Series.

Women’s Vancouver SVNS Semifinals:

Japan v Fiji 10:14 AM NZT

Australia v Black Ferns Sevens 10:36 AM NZT

Leinster player ratings vs Sharks | 2024/25 URC

Yes. It looked like the players didn’t believe in the coaching. I hear that Sharks turnover a lot of coaches but there seems to be an issue judging by the players body language at least. The looked world beaters when scoring a point a minute against good teams early in the season though.

Attacking opportunities will be different under the Nienaber system. We saw some incisive attack and a couple of good tries against the Bulls and against Sharks.

Arguably we might get a better idea of Leinsters attack of these SA matches where the players by and large are immersed only on Leinster and not mixing time with the Irish setup.

Re the Irish setup, Farrell has to make a decision. The IRFU also. Nienaber contract ends in 2026. Should Ireland change play to something different like Leinster?

I would say yes, but if there needs to by alignment with Leinster then there must be certainty that Leinster is playing that way in 2026 onward.

That’s why I believe IRFU could have leveraged the Nienaber appointment with Leinster.

Obvious man was Felix Jones, but that bird has flown.

I don’t believe it would make Ireland world beaters. But clearly these young Leinster players are comfortable playing this way and it could make Ireland extremely difficult to beat in a World Cup which is a key attribute in winning knock out matches.

I think in the next few years we will see a SA 4 IRL 4 last 8.

They will tweak the schedule to give less disadvantage to SA. Even if that is worth 5 points per SA team, that puts almost all in play offs. More Springboks also in play perhaps.

The ‘other’ Irish provinces got hurt a little by Leinsters win dominance this year (having to play them twice). But IMO they are all building again, and although some more Leinster academy players will be released to the provinces and they will get a little centralized help the onus will be on them to find ways to close the gap with Leinster which they will start to do next year.

How to solve a problem like Welsh rugby

VERIFIED CRYPTOCURRENCY RESTORATION/FOLKWIN EXPERT RECOVERY.

As a designer, I’m always on the lookout for new tools to improve my workflow. So, when I saw an ad on LinkedIn for a “revolutionary” design software, it seemed like the perfect opportunity. The ad promised to streamline my design process with amazing features at an unbeatable price. Without a second thought, I clicked the link and made the purchase. But soon after buying the software, I realized it was a scam. The software never worked as promised, and when I tried to reach out for support, the company vanished without a trace. I was left feeling frustrated and powerless. 5,000 NZD, a significant amount for anyone, especially a freelancer, was gone, and there was no way to get it back… or so I thought. I was at a loss for what to do next. That’s when I discovered FOLKWIN EXPERT RECOVERY. At first, I wasn’t sure if they could help. Could anyone actually recover money lost to online scams? But, desperate and with no other options, I decided to reach out. I contacted FOLKWIN EXPERT RECOVERY, they explained the process in detail, reassured me that they would do everything in their power to recover my funds, and kept me updated every step of the way. To my amazement, just two days after I reached out, they successfully recovered 4,800 NZD of the 5,000 NZD I had lost. The relief I felt when I saw that money back in my account was indescribable. It was like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Since then, I’ve made it a point to share my experience with other designers in the community. I want to raise awareness about the scams that are out there and remind others to be cautious when browsing for new software. Scammers can target anyone, even professionals like us. But I also want to let fellow designers know that if they do fall victim to fraud, they don’t have to give up. FOLKWIN EXPERT RECOVERY is there to help. Now, I always tell others: Be skeptical of ads that seem too good to be true, especially on platforms like LinkedIn. But if you do get scammed, there’s hope. Don’t hesitate to contact FOLKWINEXPERTRECOVERY(at)TECH-CENTER. CO M, (WhatsApp): +1 (740)705-0711. They helped me get my money back in just two days, and they can help you too.

Warm greetings,

Mr. Gilbert Jonathan

Don't get out over your skis on the Highlanders

As a seasoned entrepreneur, I prided myself on due diligence. But when an associate introduced me to a "high-yield crypto platform" backed by polished presentations and fake regulatory licenses, I let my guard down. The platform promised 25% monthly returns through "algorithmic trading." I poured in $775,000 USDT, For months, the dashboard showed soaring profits. Then, the withdrawal requests stalled. Excuses turned to silence. The platform’s domain expired. My heart sank: I’d been ensnared by scam. The loss was paralyzing. My family’s future hung in the balance. Lawyers warned that cross-border crypto scams were nearly impossible to prosecute. I spent sleepless nights scouring blockchain explorers, tracing my USDT to anonymous wallets, but hit dead ends. Then, a cybersecurity contact mentioned Dexdert Net, a firm with a reputation for untangling sophisticated crypto fraud, desperate, I reached out. Dexdert’s team responded promptly, exuding professionalism. They asked for transaction records, wallet addresses, and scammer communications. Their transparency stood out—no upfront fees, just a contingency plan explaining their approach: tracing blockchain transactions, collaborating with exchanges, and leveraging legal channels. Though complex, it reassured me. Weeks passed with regular updates. Dexdert’s experts traced my USDT to a wallet flagged for scams. Dexdert’s persistence was unwavering.  They worked tirelessly and successfully recovered my funds, My $775,000 USDT was secured in a new wallet, verified by my own eyes. Relief washed over me—I’d regained control, they restored my faith. To others, I urge: research thoroughly, question "too good" offers, and act swiftly if scammed. While not all stories end like mine, Dexdert’s expertise turned my despair into hope—a second chance I’ll never take for granted.
