Rob Baxter brands try-scoring machine 'an England bolter'
Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter believes that in-form winger Paul Brown-Bampoe, who has scored 18 tries in 19 appearances, is a bolter to be capped by England this summer.
Baxter admits that England coach Steve Borthwick is keen to speak to Brown-Bampoe, 22, who was spotted by the Chiefs playing for Durham University against Exeter University and impressed them enough to earn a contract.
The 6ft 3 inch speedster, who has done internships at merchant bank JP Morgan, is in line for an England call-up this summer following his scintillating performances for the Premiership strugglers this season.
“I think you could describe him as an England bolter. He scores tries and plays well most weeks, and that is what it takes. He is certainly someone who will be there or thereabouts in a very short period of time.
“He is a very grounded guy who has thought about his future and what he needs to do to develop. Has the speed of his improvement surprised me? Yes, it has, but fair play, he has backed himself and thrown himself into everything.
“There is nothing wrong with England having an interest in him and having a really good look at him, because that’s how rapid his development has been. I think that is down to a lot of hard work from Paul.
“He is very keen to have a lot of input, so fair play to him. I know Steve (Borthwick) is keen on talking to him and making him aware of the interest.
“But at the same time, a position that England has some pretty rich resources in is the wings. Don’t they? We have got some quality wings that are playing well, and it is a very competitive area.
“We have also got Manny Feyi-Waboso here, and he is looking to get back from injury towards the end of the season,” said Baxter.

Even with the lions away I can't possibly see him in this summer's England squad.
Murley, Roebuck and Sleightolme are already around the squad.
Ibitoye, Muir, Hendy, Radwan, and Hassell-Collins would surely be in the queue ahead of him.
He’s an exceptional athlete with loads of potential but right now his handling and decision making are huge work ons and he's a defensive liability.
