Rugby Australia to bid for RWC 2021 & 2027

Andy Goode has made his World Cup predictions

Chairman Cameron Clyne has announced Rugby Australia will bid for both the men’s & women’s Rugby World Cups.

“As we edge closer to the 15th anniversary of the last Rugby World Cup played in Australia, regarded by many as the greatest in the tournament’s history, we are excited to confirm that Rugby Australia will bid for the hosting rights for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2021 and the 2027 (Men’s) Rugby World Cup,” he said.

“The Rugby World Cup is the pinnacle for our Qantas Wallabies and Buildcorp Wallaroos teams and we want to bring those tournaments home for any player, boy or girl, man or woman, who ever dreamed of lifting the Cup here on our home soil.”

Great article. I believe Joe Schimdt and co will pick James O’Connor in the Wallabies team. His play for the Crusaders this year has been crucial to our come back. I hope he is back with the Crusaders next year.A good guy, he was a hero against the Blues last week.

So just to clarify: you’re saying that 1.3m ISNT GREATER than 0.75m and that 2.9m ISNT GREATER than 2.3m??


And you’re also saying that the world renowned, all conquering League of Ireland is comparable to the English Premiership, Serie A, Ligue 1 or even the Scottish Premiership??

Pray tell us how exactly the IRFU strengthens the pathway for the other three without diluting Leinster then? Just how exactly do they address the unavoidable facts that Dublin is the biggest urban population with the greatest volume of potential players on its doorstep? And how exactly do they address the prevalence of Dublin privates school academies, supported by external funding, that the other provinces either simply don’t have, or have on a micro scale? 10% of the wages from a dozen or so central contracts, that’s split three ways, won’t even touch the sides!


Cant wait for the answer to this one…

Yep. Talent deserves to be recognised but it should also be allowed to develop. I don’t think he needs the hype machine either way.


If he does a job on JVDF, Conan, Penny, Deegan, Doris and all, then fair play to him.

I disagree - it was the easiest pool. I accept that the win in South Africa was pretty special but Stade Francis and Castres are not the strongest French teams and Munster are only decent.

Exactly! Northampton have had one of the easiest routes to the semis so his stats (which are very good) are a little flattering. How he goes against Leinster (and Toulouse/Bordeaux if they get there) will really define whether he deserves this accolade or not. If he has a great game against Leinster I’m happy to jump on the bandwagon - otherwise I think it's too soon.
