Sam Cane will be hoping that he can impress Scott Robertson over the next few weeks and win a spot on the playing field against the Springboks at the end of August.

The former captain was included in New Zealand’s Rugby Championship squad on Sunday, despite announcing that he’ll retire from the international game at the end of this year when he will take up a long-term Japanese club deal with Sungoliath.

The 32-year-old’s last Test was the World Cup Final loss to South Africa in Paris last October when he was sent off in the first half for a high tackle, leaving his team facing a mountainous task.

World Rugby Guide to Rugby Sevens

Olympic Rugby Sevens kicks off in Paris on Wednesday. Here’s your full explanation of how it’ll work!

After two home Tests against Argentina to start this year’s Rugby Championship, the All Blacks will head to South Africa to face the Springboks on August 31 (Johannesburg) and September 7 (Cape Town).

“I suppose it feels a little bit like the first time,” Cane told New Zealand media after Sunday’s squad announcement.

“[Like] anyone who’s been around and played with the All Blacks for a few years, you never take it for granted.

“It’s hard to put into words exactly how special it is. Every time, it’s a little bit different because of the journey or what’s required to get there.

“In this case, it’s been a lot of hours by myself, working away.

“I’ve been there and done it before, but it doesn’t make it any easier.”

After last year’s World Cup Final, Cane will also be eager to right some wrongs against the Springboks.

“I’m really excited about the make-up of the Rugby Championship this year and a couple of Tests at home versus Argentina.

“Nothing excites me more than South Africa in South Africa.

“It’s one of the ultimate challenges as an All Black.

“There’s some massive Test matches coming up. Whatever my role is to be played on behalf of the team, I’ll look forward to that.”

Despite being in contact with Robertson, Cane admitted that it was still a surprise to be included in the squad.

“[Robertson] said my focus was to get back fit and available and prove that I’m ready to go,” said Cane.

“I certainly wasn’t expecting to be named. I mentally prepared myself that if I got named, it would be a bonus.

“But I was equally prepared to go and spend a season with Bay of Plenty.

“I wasn’t expecting it, but I knew I was in with a shot.

“As part of mentally preparing for it, I played out both scenarios in my head. But once you get named, I’m pretty stoked.”

My name is Solenn Bonnet, and I am a single mother navigating the challenges of raising my two-year-old child while trying to make ends meet. I came across a trading platform that promised astonishing daily profits of 18%. The allure of such a high return on investment was too tempting to resist, and I found myself drawn into cryptocurrency trading. Excited by the prospect of financial freedom, I invested a significant amount of my savings, totaling over 5.7 BTC. However, what started as a hopeful venture quickly turned into a nightmare. The platform was a scam, and I lost everything I had invested. The emotional toll of this loss was immense; I felt devastated and helpless, struggling to provide for my child and keep up with my bills. In my desperate attempt to recover my funds, I sought help from various recovery experts. Unfortunately, I encountered numerous fraudulent individuals who claimed they could help me retrieve my lost money. Each time I reached out, I was met with disappointment and further scams, which only deepened my despair. Last year was one of the most challenging periods of my life, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about my financial future. Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, I confided in a close friend from church about my situation. She listened compassionately and shared her own experiences with financial difficulties. Understanding my plight, she introduced me to Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a group of skilled hackers known for their expertise in recovering lost funds. Skeptical yet hopeful, I decided to reach out to them as a last resort. Their services came at a higher cost, but my friend generously offered to help me with a partial payment. I was amazed by how quickly they responded and began the recovery process. Their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire ordeal. To my relief, they successfully recovered more than I had lost to those heartless scammers. This was truly transformative, and I felt a sense of relief and gratitude that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I strongly encourage anyone who has faced similar challenges or fallen victim to scams to reach out to Tech Cyber Force Recovery. If you’ve invested in a fraudulent platform like I did, they are highly capable of helping you reclaim your hard-earned money. Don’t lose hope; there is a way to recover what you’ve lost.
