Scarlets player ratings vs Leinster | 2024/25 URC
Scarlets player ratings: Jamie Heaslip claimed Scarlets would need a miracle to beat Leinster on RTE’s coverage before the game but the Llanelli outfit was good value for their 33-22 win over the URC top-dogs.
We rate the Scarlet’s players:
1. Alec Hepburn – 8
Pumped out a huge defensive shift and anchored the Scarlets scrum well. Reliable and relentless.
2. Ryan Elias – 7.5
His short darts at the lineout caused Leinster no end of trouble. Was a nuisance at the breakdown too before making way.
3. Henry Thomas – 7
Scrummaged hard against Healy and got stuck into the tight exchanges. Solid around the park.
4. Alex Craig – 6
Conceded a clumsy high shot that handed Leinster easy field position. Otherwise a low-key but committed performance.
5. Sam Lousi – 7
Did the dirty work in the engine room, clearing rucks and locking down the defensive line.
6. Vaea Fifita – 7.5
Quiet in the first half but grew into it. Played a key role in spoiling Leinster’s lineout ball.
7. Josh MacLeod – 7
Busy around the fringes and one of Scarlets’ key tacklers.
8. Taine Plumtree – 9
A talismanic performance. Two tries, a try assist, an intercept — only stopped when his body finally said “enough.”
9. Gareth Davies – 8.5
A livewire. Scored early, bossed the tempo and schooled a few Leinster defenders with his clever kicking game.
10. Sam Costelow – 7.5
Lovely cross-kick assist and a composed first half but faded slightly before going off injured. The chargedown wasn’t his finest moment.
11. Ellis Mee – 8
Beat defenders for fun and had Leinster defenders grasping at thin air. Really lively in broken play.
12. Johnny Williams – 7.5
Threw some wonderful wide passes and was a defensive bulwark in the midfield. Set the tone with some big early hits.
13. Joe Roberts – 8
A real handful with ball in hand and took his try superbly after a Blair Murray break.
14. Tom Rogers – 8
Took his try brilliantly off a pinpoint Costelow cross-kick and was a threat throughout. One of his sharper showings, mixing finishing quality with strong workrate off the ball.
15. Blair Murray – 8.5
Electric at times. His first-half break set up Roberts and he looked a real counter-attacking threat all game, with only an early tackle on Frawley blotting his copybook.

Came on to stiffen the Scarlets pack and did just that.

Not enough time to judge.
20. Jarrod Taylor – NA

21. Archie Hughes – NA
Not on long enough to rate.

Nailed his shots at goal when it mattered and steered the ship late on.
