Scotland lose another big name for the Autumn Internationals

Fraser Brown to miss Autumn Internationals

Scotland hooker Fraser Brown will miss the autumn internationals due to a knee injury.

Brown did the damage in a European Champions Cup defeat at Exeter Chiefs last weekend and Glasgow Warriors on Friday revealed that he will be out for up to eight weeks.

The 28-year-old’s absence is another blow for Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend after captain Greig Laidlaw suffered a fractured ankle that will keep him out of the Tests against Samoa, New Zealand and Australia next month.

Brown will be sorely missed by Glasgow in Saturday’s Champions Cup clash with Leinster as well as a double-header against Montpellier and a host of Pro14 encounters.

There is positive news on Glasgow and Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg, who will make his first appearance of the season against Leinster on Saturday after recovering from shoulder surgery.

Razor's 2024 All Blacks Christmas wish list

"It seems like the idea of Ardie Savea moving to openside flanker is no longer on the table"

Says who? Savea was picked on the open side, with Wallace Sititi at 8, against France. It makes no difference to Savea’s game, whatsoever and allows Sititi to play in his preferred position. It also provides an option to bring in a third loose forward that may provide a better lineout option and a big body to compete with some of the big bodies found in other teams.

It was unfortunate that Finau was injured so early on against France before he had a chance to show how he might combine with Savea and Sititi, and there is still a possibility that Hoskins Sotutu might be effective alongside them too.

Don’t count out viable options.
