Scotland too strong for Canada in Edmonton

Ruaridh Jackson has confirmed his plans to retire.

A second-half hat-trick from George Turner helped Scotland cruise past Canada 48-10 in their Test in Edmonton Saturday.

Turner crossed for three of his team’s seven tries in a comprehensive victory at the Commonwealth Stadium.

Canada managed to hold the visitors at bay for parts of the first half, with Scotland leading 15-3 at the break.

But they took over in the second half with five tries, sealing a win many had expected.

Byron McGuigan and Ruaridh Jackson had scored in the first half before Turner’s hat-trick and tries from Magnus Bradbury and Lewis Carmichael in the second.

A penalty try early in the second half – along with Shane O’Leary’s penalty in the first – was all Canada managed.

Scotland will face the United States in their next Test in Houston June 16.
