Season over for Wasps centre Eastmond

Wasps centre Kyle Eastmond

Premiership leaders Wasps will be without Kyle Eastmond for the rest of the season after the centre suffered a torn Achilles tendon.

The rugby league convert did the damage during a victory over Gloucester last weekend and will be out for six months after undergoing surgery.

Eastmond’s absence is a big blow for the Coventry-based club, who are in the hunt for a Premiership and European Champions Cup double.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young said: “It’s obviously really disappointing for Kyle that he will miss the rest of the season and I really feel for him, because it came at a time when he was really starting to find his feet in this side and get a good run of games under his belt.

Thanks for all the well wishes..I appreciate & see them all ! We Soon Rise Again

“The good news is that the operation was as straightforward as it can be with this type of injury and that Kyle is expected to make a full recovery, hopefully being back ahead of the new season.

“Kyle will be a big loss for us as we go into this last part of the season, but we are lucky to have a very competitive group of backs and this will give other players the opportunity to step up, which they have consistently done as a group already this year.”
