Shoot-out agony for Netherlands - but in rugby!

Netherlands have famously struggled at penalty shoot-outs in football through the years, and it seems they fare little better in rugby.

The extremely rare event of a rugby shoot-out came to pass in the European Under-20 Championship as Belgium took on Netherlands.

The match reached full-time with the scores locked at 30-30, leaving kicks at the posts as the only way to separate the teams.

And there was agony for the Dutch, as their neighbours prevailed after five efforts apiece.

The Lions players may not have stopped it happening, but is sounds like the Lions group/ administrators/ exec team did stop it happening. It's pretty nitpicky - as Sexton says - they've already played against him last week! Defies logic.

What stat, never mind fact?

The test year is hardly through. SRP doesn’t count.

Any non-RWC year is meaningless because rivals, like France and Boks, field experimental XVs in tests.

Dmac is a better 2/3-point kicker now but he has too many flaws in the tactical facets of his game. He is too dicey at fullback, too.

That's why, at best, he's a bench boy. Lovely bloke, I’m guessing, but that's not what my opinion is based on.

I’m afraid the ‘intent’ angel is simply implied, it’s not part of the law.


They way they interpret the “deliberate” aspect is by clearly identifiable aspects like, is it a line break, is there an overlap, would a try likely have been scored etc.


Maybe they could apply the law another way though for sure. I actually wouldn’t mind if the tried to judge “intent” actually, myself!
