So what went wrong for England in Cardiff?

The Rugby Pod and in particular Andy Goode looked to break down what exactly happened to the England team in Cardiff on Saturday evening.

The moment where Tuilagi grabbed the throat of Liam Williams was highlighted as a key moment, rousing a great amount of emotion from both the Welsh players and fans alike.

Wales take on Scotland next in Edinburgh which will be a battle more than anything. The men in blue will be hurting after a tough loss on the road to France, whilst Wales will be desperate to cement a shot for the title in Cardiff against Ireland on the final weekend.

I agree with a B+ rating for the ABs this year. That is a pass mark in a transition season. A new coach, loss of senior players, injuries, some bizarre refereeing calls at times and sometimes unlucky rubs of the green all conspired to deprive this side of the perfect record. I foresee better results next year. No panic just yet.

TJ Perenara clarifies reference to the Treaty in All Blacks' Haka

Perenara is super woke, the treaty of long ago is irrelevant to a game of rugby in Italy. By referencing it and claiming the countries going through tough times is clearly because Perenara doesn't agree with the democratically elected government of New Zealand that people from all ethnicities voted for. Perenara is making it divisive and political despite many of his team mates that wouldn't agree with his decision. The Allblacks saved this year's worst performance to combine it with the most divisive haka statement. Perhaps it's overdue now for NZ rugby to leave the haka for home games only, ensure that only the players that want to do it are included and never again have 'insertions' added by political activist players.

I expected a larger win than this and the ABs were off slightly whilst the rested Italians were well up for this and gave a real committed performance

Frustrating but a lot of those ABs forwards have done huge minutes this tour and Italy are not the side from the World Cup

Remember they beat wales and Scotland in the 6N

Difference is SA lost by a solitary point in both losses, and in the case of Argentina, away after making 11 changes to the team.


AB losses were by larger margins and lost at home, playing arguably their best sides.

Giving 52 players caps in a calendar year over 13 matches. When the majority of the players don’t play with each other (I.e. domestically etc) and you’re bound to see less than polished performances.


In the past, the boks would lose games in the name of building. Now they win games with less than perfect performances. Even Score 7 tries playing poorly.


I’m happy with that.
